Cougars, Inc. UK DVD Cat Out Of The Bag?

dvd_001Just last week we brought you the news that Cougars, Inc. had not only been rated for a theatrical release in the UK but it had also, very briefly, had one.  Over a whole four (yes, 4) days the film was shown in a small selection of cinemas across the UK, mostly in an early afternoon slot.

This led KM UK to find that the film was given its official age rating for cinema and video release back in January.  All of which hinted at a possible DVD release in this country quite soon.

Now, Amazon’s UK website and the online presence of the Sainsbury’s supermarket chain are both offering the disc for pre-order prior to an April 15th launch.  No sign of a Blu-ray version.

For those that haven’t gone for the German DVD or Blu-ray version, sold under the name Loverboys and includes an English audio track, since it was released way back in April 2011 your chance to pick up a Region 2 copy could be here in just 6 weeks.

We’ll post again on this as the time approaches.

Fan Art Update – February 2013

banner_167_403x166_dianekmfanWe combined the last fan art update with Kathryn’s birthday celebrations, pushing it late in the month of January.  February is a short month but we will just squeeze in some more of your art works before its end.

As we held these over from January because they were not birthday-themed the creators should be happy to see them finally getting posted.  Not surprisingly given the release of The Sweeter Side Of Life last month, and the better than-anywhere-else screencaps from it posted here on KM UK, all the new images are themed around the film.

Dianekmfan leads the way with 14 new Banners with Kathy joining in with 2 new collage Wallpapers.  Thank you to them both.  This latest 16 images brings KM UK’s Fan Art Gallery collection to over 700 items (including avatars, banners, buttons, drawings, videos and wallpapers) and that is all thanks to our dedicated and talented visitors. Check out the Gallery to see them.

If you have made some Kathryn-related Fan Art and want to share it with other fans here on KM UK please contact us.

Cougars Go Wild Then Recaged In UK

promo_002It only took two years, which when you get to cougar-age is not to be taken lightly, but the movie Cougars, Inc. finally received a cinema release here in the UK.  We use the past tense “released” because it appears to have been, done and gone, and left to do the walk of shame after a four day fling last week in just a handful of cinemas across England.  We doubt it troubled the box office.  The information of this release managed to pass KM UK by.

The British Board Of Film Classification (BBFC), the body that issues all films with their official age ratings for the UK market, gave Cougars, Inc. its 15 certificate for feature (cinema) and video (DVD and VOD) at the end of January.  Another fact that passed us by.

That the film was submitted for classification (where it received no cuts so will be the same as the US version) and given a theatrical run, albeit a very brief one, does suggest that an official DVD release may be imminent.  We’ll keep you posted.

For those few unfamiliar with Cougars, Inc. it is about Sam (Kyle Gallner, in the middle in above photo) and his mis- and miss-adventures.  He’s a teen that tends to get into trouble and has been moved to another new school by his mother in the hope of a fresh start.  Only mummy can’t pay the expensive fees.  Stood-up on his first date with a girl he’s just met Sam takes solace in a bar, where he bumps into Kathryn’s Alison.  A morning-after thank you monetary gift to help with his school from said cougar gives Sam’s friends a plan to make more cash from other bored and wealthy women.  Hijinks ensue.  We’d like to be able to tell you it is a heart-warming tale about lonely souls finding each other, but we can’t.

Even More The Coin On Set Photos

on_set_20120703_011The gentlemen on left in the photo above is Fabien Mortorell.  He’s the director, a co-writer and a co-producer of the short film The Coin.  The 9 minute long movie also stars Christopher Lloyd (Back To The Future).

Obviously he is a man of great taste because he chose Kathryn to star in his film (or maybe she has some dirt on him 😮 ) but he is also a very helpful man.  “What makes you say that?”  I hear you ask.  I’ll tell you.

Back in December Fabien very kindly contacted KM UK directly to let us know about a new Facebook page he’s created for the film (we had actually found it already, shortly after it was created :-) ).  Not only that but Fabien and Kathryn have allowed KM UK to share with you the set of on set photos posted there.  There is now a link to the FB page in the menu on the right.

Twelve, count ’em, photos (and one previous one updated to a slightly larger version) of Kathryn and co. on the set of The Coin are now in the Gallery.

Many thanks to Fabien and Kathryn.

We hope to bring you more news on this project soon.

The Sweeter Side Of Ratings

The Futon Critic website has published Nielsen audience figures covering the 19th of January 2013 on cable TV in the US.  The night that included première broadcast of Kathryn’s TV movie The Sweeter Side Of Life.

We can’t claim to fully understand the Nielsen numbers and methods but here they are as reported for TSSOL:

  • 1.975 million viewers, #5; 0.366 million adults 18-49 (0.3 rating), #9

In fact the numbers are fairly meaningless without some context.  The previous weekend’s Hallmark Channel movie premiere (12 January 2013) was a film called Nearlyweds, starring Danielle Panabaker and Naomi Judd.  That film’s figures were:

  • 1.323 million viewers, #3; 0.297 million adults 18-49 (0.2 rating), #6

Poster 003As you can see TSSOL got over 650,000 more viewers and a 23% higher rating in the, what for some reason is seen as the most important, “key demographic” 18-49 year old age group.  We don’t believe that the repeat showings, straight afterwards and since, are included.

The relative positions in the rankings (TSSOL: #5 and #9, Nearlyweds: #3 and #6) don’t paint such a rosy picture though.  However, the Lifetime channel’s screening of a drama and documentary about the Casey Anthony trial (a mother charged with the murder of her 2 year old daughter in 2008 which became a huge news story in 2011) took the first and third slots, pushing TSSOL down two from where it would otherwise have been.  A few other shows up against TSSOL got large numbers in the “key demo” but were lower overall adding to that #9.

Congratulations to all involved in The Sweeter Side Of Life on its success.

You can read the Futon Critic numbers in full here and here.
