Ghost Of Xmas Past

on_set_001_ridge_perkettThe lucky young gentleman you see here (larger version in the Gallery) getting a hug from Kathryn is Ridge Perkett.  You may recognise him from the episode of Cold Case called Ghost Of My Child, the finale (episode 18) of season 5.  That was the season that had fewer episodes than the normal 22-24 due to a writers strike that hit much of Hollywood during the 2007-2008 production runs.

Spoiler Alert:  In a memorable scene at the very end of Ghost Of My Child, Lilly and Scotty take Max (Ridge) back to his biological parents, letting him out of her car and pointing across to them.

Ridge featured many episodes of the very long running soap opera The Bold And The Beautiful as Ridge “RJ” Forrester Jr., the son of Brooke Logan Forrester (played by Katherine Kelly Lang).  There can’t be many Ridges in the world and but this boy becomes an actor and managed to land a role with the same name.  As is often the case with child actors there have been several RJs over the years.  Perkett had the job from 2006 to 2009.

The website Star Kidz is all about kidz kids that… star in daytime and primetime television shows.  The last few days they’ve run a series of short interviews with some of their subjects, including Ridge, as a countdown to Xmas 2013.  On Friday it was Ridge’s turn and in the piece (“5 Days Til’ Christmas!“*) he was asked:

8. What was it like working with Kathryn Morris on Cold Case?

Kathryn Morris was super nice, she showed me around the set before we started filming and helped me not be afraid and nervous.

Awww.

Happy Xmas Ridge.

* There are no direct links to the article so I’ve used an archive link to reduce it to ones about the character of RJ.  You need to scroll down to find the piece.  Search the page for ‘ridge’ .

Can You Crack The Case? – Solved

Do you recognise these photos?  Where were you when they were taken?  If you have any information call Crime Stoppers let us know in the comments below :-)

The two photos above were taken by Suzetta Anne, who has kindly allowed KM UK to post them here.  See them in full in the new Unknown section of the Gallery.

The photos are part of a small set taken by Suzetta on, I believe, October 12th, 2007.  The full set can be seen on Suzetta’s Flickr page HERE.  They were clearly taken around a location shoot for Cold Case but what I don’t know is exactly what episode the filming relates to.  I’d like to identify them so they can be correctly filed in the Gallery.  I know that many of you have got a more encyclopaedic knowledge of CC than me.  Can you help?

Let’s go through the evidence:

  • Mid-October in 2007 makes it the early in Cold Case season 5.  I think Kathryn’s “Lilly do” tallies with that.
  • Taking into account the time between filming and broadcast puts it somewhere around episode 5 or 6.
  • One of the other photos shows a scene that looks like a graduation ceremony.  I’ve gone through the episodes but cannot find anything that look similar.  Perhaps the scenes were cut from the broadcast episode.

What do you think?

Remember: Photos like this are very rare.  Don’t have nightmares.

Update (8th July):  Thank you to all those that got in touch with me about this in comments, via Twitter and more directly.  I can now say with some certainty that the photos were taken on the set of the Cold Case season 5 episode 10 “Justice”.  That was several episodes later than I expected.  Having reviewed the episode adding to the confusion was the fact that Kathryn and John are not really seen in that environment in the episode, Lt. Stillman only appears briefly (on his boat) in the show as he is on suspension.  The graduation scene is in the opening flashback and therefore does not include Lilly.  The photos have now been moved the appropriate part of the Gallery.

Cold Case Season 5 Promo Photos

promo_004It’s Cold Case season 5’s turn to the get the “they’re not exactly new, but they’re new to the Gallery” post treatment.

Obviously the gorgeous is baked right in, it’s Kathryn after all 😉 , but it is not my favourite Lilly look.

Anyway, 4 huge sized and high quality images of Kathryn and Danny Pino as Lilly and Scotty are now in the Gallery.

Cold Case Season 5 Screencaps Revisited

Cold_Case_S05E16_lilly_170As we rush  headlong towards the start of season 7 I wanted to get my CC screencap collection from the earlier seasons finalised.  The season 5 set was a little lacking in numbers so I’ve gone back and done a whole new load from episode 4 (Devil Music) to the finale (ep18, Ghost Of My Child).  The first 3 episodes of the run were covered well enough already.

Cold_Case_S05E04_lilly_088Reference has to be made to ‘the hair’.  This had to be the worst season for ‘dos’ of the 5 up to this point.  What were the production crew thinking?  It started off OK with an only slightly unreal looking straight look in Thrill Kill.  Then it morphed into a frankly weird near-beehive-with-silly-fringe thing.  There was brief respite in the cemetery scene in Thick As Thieves with a more natural look for Lilly.

Cold_Case_S05E14_lilly_153Fortunately, Andy In C Minor signalled a trichological shift.  Was this after the enforced break caused by the writers strike of early 2008?  The silly fringe was gone but the ponytail remained and it still had that essential ‘Lillyness’.  I think the make-up changed a bit as well giving Lilly a much more natural look.  A significant improvement all round 😛 Of course, you may disagree.

Season 5, of course, followed the dramatic events that ended season 4.  Lilly was forced into therapy to assess of her ability to work, not that she stopped.  Didn’t amount to much really, just a couple of sessions, possibly another victim of the writers strike.

And we get to meet Eddie…

There were some great smiles, amongst other things, along the way.

Cold Case season 5 can be found here in the Gallery.
