Yet Still More Cold Case Guest Star Reddit AMAs

Up for a bit of Cold Case chat with an actor that guest starred on the show?

Thanks to Todd Smitts, our resident expert in all things Cold Case, I have an update on a couple more of these Ask Me Anything Q&A sessions on the Reddit website.

This was Todd’s latest message to me:

[T]wo more Cold Case actors will be doing AMA’s on reddit this week.  Ksenia Solo (Lena from “Cargo”) will be doing on at 5 PM eastern on June 8, and Ian Anthony Dale (Ray Takahashi from “Family 8108”) at 5 PM eastern on June 9.

Ksenia Solo is a Latvia-born Canadian actress who has starred in the movie Black Swan and the TV series Lost Girl amongst many other things.  You may remember her in Cargo as the girl with curly hair, a look she doesn’t appear to sport these days.  Currently she is busy with shows Orphan Black and TURN: Washington Spies and has a film called Another You out at some point this year.  She’s a busy woman.

By the time Ian Anthony Dale guested in Family 8108 he’d already been a regular on shows like Charmed and Surface.  He’s also guested on a lot of other shows.  Bones, 24, all the CSIs, The Mentalist, Burn Notice, The Event, are just a few from a long list.  Most recently Ian had a recurring role in Hawaii Five-O and a lead role in Murder In The First.  He’s a busy man.

Even More Cold Case Guest Star Reddit AMAs

Cold Case-fandom stalwart Todd Smitts has contacted me again regarding some upcoming Reddit chat sessions with guest stars from CC.  I’m cutting it a little fine on the first.  Sorry.

Here is what he had to say about the latest ones:

Tim Griffin, who played the younger version of Coach Walters in the episode “Glory Days” will be doing an AMA tomorrow, May 26 at 12 PM Eastern, while Robert LaSardo, who played Jesus Torres in “Hubris” will be doing one on May 29 at 3:30 PM Eastern.

Thank you for letting us know.

Half A Decade Ago

It’s May already!?!

Seriously?  Wasn’t it Xmas just last month?  Where does the time go?

One thing that is beginning to feel like it was quite a long time ago, and yet at the same time just yesterday, is the end of Cold Case.

On this day five years ago (2nd May 2010) the long running CBS network crime drama series came to an end.  On that Sunday night in the US of A two episodes were broadcast back-to-back, bring to a close the seven season-long run.

Since then we’ve seen all of Kathryn’s main co-stars return to the small screen in various roles.  Danny Pino (Scotty Valens on CC) didn’t stray far from the genre with a leading role in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit being the most obvious one.  All the rest have made guest appearances galore.  Just last week Jeremy Ratchford (Nick Vera) was in Bones.  Thom Barry (Will Jeffries) was a prison doctor on House.  Tracie Thoms (Kat Miller) met the Veep.  And, John Finn (John Stillman) showed up in a couple of episodes of NCIS.  Those were just one example for each.  Tracie, as usual, ups the average by being on multiple shows, some pilots for new shows, and movies.  Check out KM UK’s monthly Cold Case Cast Catch-up posts for the latest news on them and others.

A-musing Reminder Of Doctored History

on_set_001It’s been a while since we had reason to post about the not picked up TV drama pilot The Surgeon General.  Not since the last time in fact :-)

In July of 2013 we saw the surprise (and possibly accidental) publication of a promo video for the show.  By then we already knew the show had not been selected for the 2013-2014 TV season by the CBS network.  That decision was clear (largely by omission from announcements, but also by director Rod Lurie Tweeting about it) a couple of months earlier.

Much like the promo video release we can still get the occasional pleasant surprise, even 2 years later.

Rod Lurie spent a bit of time yesterday (18th April) reminiscing on his Tweeter feed with photos from various projects he’s been involved with over the years.  One of them (now in the Gallery) was the one you see above.  That is Rod and Kathryn on the set of The Surgeon General.

Rod should be well known to all Kathryn fans because she has been in most of his feature films.  She starred in Deterrence, The Contender, The Last Castle (in scene that didn’t make the final edit) and Resurrecting The Champ.  For a long time I’ve thought of Kathryn as probably being Rod’s muse.  He’s now confirmed my feelings by posting the above photo with the message:

#KathrynMorris is closest person I have to a muse. In 4 of my films. Here I direct her in a pilot  #SurgeonGeneral.

Hopefully they’ll work together again soon.

Thanks to Rod for the trip back down memory lane.

Murder She Wrote – Easter Monday

msw_s12e22_035It has taken a while but UK TV network ITV have finally got almost to the end of the Murder, She Wrote series.  The sister channel ITV got here last year but now the parent (I know, I’ve made this a complicated family :-) ) ITV1 has caught up.  This means HD is possible.

On Monday, that’s the 6th of April aka Easter Monday, ITV1/1HD will be showing episode 22 of the 12 season of Murder, She Wrote.  It’s titled What You Don’t Know Can Kill You and saw Kathryn in one of her earliest roles as Doreen the waitress.  There were only two more episodes of the show ever made, prior to the four TV movie specials.  Kathryn must have left an impression as four years later she had a lead role in one of them.  You can see more details on that here.  I expect it to come around again quite soon, look out for another classic KM UK Media Alert!

Those still recovering from Sunday’s chocolate induced coma will need to set their alarms for 9:25 on Monday morning.  Sorry.

If you can’t wait until then my 2009 spoiler laden review of this MSM episode can be seen here and there is plenty of coverage in the KM UK Gallery too.
