SNOB Has Two Sided Coin

snob_film_festival_960x355As reported three weeks ago The Coin makes a return to the festival circuit in New Hampshire, USA.

Since the news broke the Somewhat North Of Boston Film Festival has released its full schedule of screenings during the three four day event.  The last day is a recent addition, which allows another viewing of a selection of short films.

The Coin will be shown twice, each time in a group of themed short films.

The first is on the opening night (12th of Nov) at 8:30pm in an 85 minute block titled ‘Friends & Family’.

Number two is on Saturday (14th of Nov).  It is a two part affair starting at 3:15pm with a section called ‘Searching…’.  After an hour or so filled with seven films there is a break.  At 4:30pm things kick off again with ‘…& More’ and another seven films.  The Coin is in the second half.

In both cases the short film blocks are being shown in auditorium B of the Red River Theatres on Main Street, Concord, New Hampshire.

More details can, of course, be found on the official SNOB website.

Cork Ready To Pop With Bone Tomahawk

cork_film_festival_680x212Another quick reminder of an upcoming festival appearance of the movie Bone Tomahawk.

Tomorrow night (that’s Monday the 9th of November) the Cork Film Festival will be showing the western themed horror.

The screening starts at 6:30pm at the Gate Cinema.

Tickets start at €8 for concessions and are available from the official event website.

The festival continues until next Sunday, ending with a screening of the new Toddy Haynes (Far From Heaven) directed film Carol.  The adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s novel starring Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmin), Rooney Mara (The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo, US version), Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story), and Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), has been doing the festivals rounds for a while and is due for release towards the end of this month.

Bone Tomahawk In Scotland Tomorrow

inverness_film_festival_1160x2000Fancy a scary night out in Inverness, Scotland?

Free tomorrow and prefer to stay indoors to get your frights?

Your luck’s in.

Horror film Bone Tomahawk is being shown as part of the Inverness Film Festival.

The 13th running of the is hosting the film in its Scottish première at the Eden Court theatre.  The showing starts at 8:30pm.

The official website has all the details.

Kurt Russell (The Thing), Matthew Fox (Speed Racer) and Patrick Wilson (the second Fargo TV series currently airing) are amongst the impressively starry cast.  Kathryn has a couple of short scenes as the wife of the Sheriff.  All worked for minimum pay, a sign of really wanting to be involved in the project, if claims of the $1.8m total budget are to be believed.  No reason to doubt it.

One Thing Leeds To Another For Bone Tomahawk

leeds_film_festival_300x300.jpgThey’re coming thick and fast at the moment.

That rather enigmatic log on the right is the symbol used by the Leeds International Film Festival.

The city of Leeds is in the self-styled ‘god’s own country’ county of Yorkshire in the north of England.

Hundreds of screenings, over a dozen venues, all packed in to a full two week long festival.  The programme is broken down to five sections.  Bone Tomahawk falls under the one titled ‘Fanomenon’ and will be shown as part of a marathon event called ‘Night Of The Dead XV’.  It starts, appropriately enough, on Friday the 13th of November at 9pm.  The curtain rises on Bone Tomahawk at around 1am on Saturday morning.  But they’re only half-way done!  The latest horror film from New Zealand, Deathgasm, ends the night with the credits rolling at nearly 7am.  I’m not sure I’d be up for that.  Some of us have on the Monday after!

Looks like tickets are only available for the whole night event, so are more expensive than they would be for just an individual screening.

You want to know where to find more info?  Let me ‘Leeds’ you to it: official website.

Bone Tomahawk Gets Off Scot (Not) Free

inverness_film_festival_1160x2000More film festival news means Bone Tomahawk will be continuing to stride the globe like a colossus into November.

The award winning film has more US screenings this weekend in Telluride, Colorado.

It’s already been shown in England as part of the BFI London Film Festival.  We know the horror western will be in Wales for the Abertoir Film Festival in mid-November and over the water to the Republic Of Ireland and the Cork Film Festival just before that.

How about the other English border?

We’ve now got news that that’ll be covered in early November when Bone Tomahawk jumps Hadrian’s Wall on its way to Inverness.

As part of the schedule of the Inverness Film Festival it can claim to be the Scottish première and the most northerly screening so far.

The Eden Court theatre will be playing host to the movie at 8:30pm on Thursday the 5th of November.

At the heart of Inverness, on bank of the river Ness (which joins the famous Loch Ness and Beauly Firth), Eden Court is approaching its 40th year.  The IFF is 13 this year.

But where can you find out more about this event?  I hear you ask.  How about the official website.
