Reverie WonderCon Screening Date

wondercon_logo_765x679As reported by KM UK last week the new NBC sci-fi-ish drama series Reverie will be getting a special preview screening at the upcoming WonderCon convention in Anaheim, California.

In the past couple of days a full schedule of the 3-day event has been released so we can now pin-point when and where that screening will take place.

The whole event kicks of at lunchtime on Friday the 23rd of March 2018.  Sci-fi fans aren’t morning people :-)  Turn up a little late and you’ll miss Reverie as it is scheduled for 3:30pm on that first day.

The screening will take place in the recently opened North section of the Anaheim Convention Center.  First used in September 2017 this annexe adds a significant amount of extra space and is accessible via a covered walkway from the main three halls.  The room in question is called North 200A.

As things stand it does not look like any of the actors or producers will be attending but who know what might change in the next two weeks.

So that is Friday, 23rd March, 3:30pm, room North 200A.  Got it?

The Comic-Con website HERE has all the necessary details.

Reverie @ WonderCon Anaheim 2018

artwork_002Well at least some people are going to get to see Reverie this month.

A preview screening of the show pilot/first episode will be screened for attendees of the WonderCon Anaheim 2018 event.

Running for the long weekend 23rd-25th March the Comic-Con-related convention returns to the northern Californian, Orange County city of Anaheim for 2018.  It is primarily a comic book show but has expanded to include films/TV based on superhero characters.  They’ve obviously stretched things further to include a TV series like Reverie.

The specific timings on the Reverie screening have not yet been revealed but for now more details on the event and tickets are available on the Comic-Con website HERE.

Summer Reverie?

artwork_002Now the Winter Olympics (well done to all that competed) is out of the way I was looking forward to an all out Reverie promotional assault from the NBC network.  Just a week to go until a brand new series hits the US airwaves.

It is still early in that 7-day countdown, but the lack of anything during the time that so many eyes were on the station’s output for two weeks of snow- and ice-based sports was a little concerning.  No trailer and no press releases giving the official details of the new VR drama starring Sarah Shahi (Person Of Interest), Jessica Lu (Awkward.), Sendhil Ramamurthy (Heroes), Dennis Haysbert (24), alongside Kathryn.

Spending a little time today looking into what must surely be an oversight by NBC today has brought some disappointing news to light:  we could be looking at a June (and late June at that) première for Reverie.

The early March release looked so set in stone.  Even officially released Reverie artwork (as seen above) included a reference to it, albeit not including the specific date.  They must have meant it at the time.

As Reverie was a ‘mid-season’ show, and therefore set to replace something else, presumably one of the new shows that started last September has been more successful and had its run extended.

It is unlikely now that Reverie will start next week, but we will have to hope we won’t be waiting until the summer.

Reverie: One Month Out

artwork_002The NBC network have managed to remain silent on the issue, but we are almost certainly just a one month away from Reverie‘s first episode being broadcast.

It strikes me as odd that so little is being said about the upcoming show, which is due so soon.  No sign of promotional material, such as a trailer, or official confirmation of the première date.  We know it is the 6th March though.

It is only in the past couple of weeks that the Spoiler TV website has acknowledged the final few episode titles.  Readers of this site knew them back in November!

There is the small matter of the 2018 Winter Olympics, held in South Korea, to get past first.  NBC are the US host broadcaster for the event so will be devoting a lot of air time for the 17 day duration.  Hopefully once that is cleared the remaining week-or-so will give them time for it.  Who knows, the massive audience that parts of the Olympics coverage will get could be used to promote the new mid-season shows.

Not long now.

Boston Herald’s Cold Case Revival

still_001Reacting to the news that the NBC network in America is considering reviving The Office (the US version of course), Mark Perigard of the Boston Herald newspaper has put forward his own thoughts on shows that should be brought back.

Mark, the TV critic for the Boston Herald, has his misgivings about The Office but can understand the wish to return to past glories after the success of the recent new Will & Grace season, and the soon returning, already resurrected, The X-Files.

Continuing his article, Mark puts forward five other shows he thinks are worth considering.  Obviously based on the existence of this post and its title, Cold Case is one of them.  We’ll come to that in moment, because visitors to this site may be interested to note two other choices Mark makes.

Cop drama The Shield is first up.  Our connection to that show is Danny Pino (Scotty Valens in CC) had a guest starring role in four episodes just before joining Cold Case.

Secondly we have Xena: Warrior Princess.  As Mark says, there have been talk of a revival of Xena in recent years but the plans came to nought.  Kathryn, of course, had a major role in two episodes of Xena as Najara.  It may only have been that double appearance but the character had a wider effect on the relationship between Xena and her side-kick Gabrielle.

Lastly Mark talks about Cold Case.  This is what he wrote:

A series that was a cut above crime procedurals, “Cold Case” (2003-2010) featured a group of Philadelphia detectives investigating murders unsolved sometimes for decades and featured moving flashbacks and the original music of the day, including Ray Charles, the Doors and Bruce Springsteen. “Cold Case” is also one of the few TV series that has never been released to DVD, allegedly because of the onerous issue of music rights involved. I think we would all feel safer knowing Detective Lilly Rush — and star Kathryn Morris — was back on the job.

Here, here.

KM UK did its own pitch for a new Cold Case season back in July.

You can read Mark Perigard’s piece in full on the Boston Herald website HERE.
