Murder, She Wrote: A Story To Die For – Saturday ITV3

msw_story_to_die_for_014You could almost set your watch, or more precisely calendar, by the ITV3 schedule.

People often say horrible things about the people that create the TV schedules.  Most often this is because their favourite programme has been moved to a less popular or more inconvenient timeslot.  You can’t say that about the schedulers at ITV3, oh no.  June 2010, June 2012, and now June 2013 (not sure if we just missed June 2011).  Each year the TV movie Murder, She Wrote: A Story To Die For, a spin-off from the popular TV series, has been shown on ITV3 in the UK.  That’s not a scatter-gun or sadistic approach to timetables.  It’s more like a case of OCD.  Let’s see if it happens again in 2014.

This year’s outing is on Saturday (8th June) at 12 noon and repeated on Sunday morning at 7:55am.  And, of course there are the ITV3 +1 (which is not the same as ITV4 :-) ) re-showings.

For those few of Kathryn’s fans that haven’t seen it Kathryn has a significant guest starring role in the film.  A bit of comic relief and, for once, a suspect in a major crime.  She doesn’t get to solve the crime or play the ‘love interest’, which, based on who plays the main leads (English-born actress Angela Lansbury and the late Richard Crenna) that is probably a good thing :-)

Details can be found on the Radio Times website.

Screencaps (such as the one above) from the film can be found in the Gallery.

Days As Good As This Are In The Minority

still_001It is not often that examples of Kathryn’s work get aired on the main TV networks here in the UK.  When they do we try and make a bit of fuss about them here on KM UK.  Two on one day is almost unheard of, even if one them is just about the smallest guest starring role possible.

This Saturday (11th May 2013) those in the UK can get a double dose of Kathryn booking-ending the day. For this reason we are calling Saturday British Kathryn Morris Day.  Of course on KM UK every day is a KM Day.

Very late on Friday, at 12:50am when it is technically Saturday, Channel 4 are showing the the romdramedy (that’s romantic comedy drama) As Good As It Gets.  The 1997 movie starring Helen Hunt (Mad About You) and Jack Nicholson (Batman) is one of Kathryn’s earlier film roles and very, very brief.  She’s on screen for less than 10 seconds and has no dialogue.  You do get a real sense of the character “Psychiatric Patient” in that time though.  She’s a little jumpy.  The other 8330 seconds are worth watching too.

To complete the day the BBC dusts off Minority Report for the first time in 13 months.  Here Kathryn has a more substantial role, not that that is too difficult in comparison :-),  as the wife of Tom Cruise’s main character in this Steven Spielberg directed sci-fi action film from 2002.  John (Tom) and Lara (Kathryn) are estranged, a situation caused by the death of their son some years before.  Tom works as a police office for a special squad that prevent major crimes (primarily murders) happening with advanced warning from a set of triplets that can see the future.  When John is implicated in a murder he goes on the run to clear his name.

So that’s 00:50 on Channel 4 and 23:50 on BBC1 this Saturday.  If you can, enjoy British Kathryn Morris Day UK.

Paycheck – Friday, BBC1 Again

Paycheck_1080p_010For the past six years the BBC here in England have broadcast Paycheck every 15 months or so, meaning that we are well over due a showing since it was last on back in August of 2011.

Auntie Beeb is finally putting us out of our misery with a late showing on Friday (12th April 2013) at 23:55.  Despite the hour you can still watch Kathryn’s appearance in the John Woo (who also made Broken Arrow) action film, based on a short story by Philip K Dick and starring Ben Affleck (Argo), and be in bed by 12:10am.

Details of the BBC1/BBC1 HD broadcast can be found on the BBC’s website.

Paycheck already features in the KM UK Gallery and you can read a brief write-up of Kathryn’s role in the film in a previous post.

We haven’t used the countdown timer in a while so here is one to the start of the film:

Murder, She Wrote: A Story To Die For – Thursday ITV3

promo_001In the run-up to Xmas the UK-based TV channel ITV3 are filling up their daytime schedule with lots of family friendly films.

For four days, starting at 10:35am from Monday (17th December 2012), ITV3 are showing all four of the Murder, She Wrote TV movies that were made after the TV series ended.  A Story To Die For was the second of the four films but for some reason it is being shown last on the Thursday (20th December 2012).  They’ve muddled up the order completely!  How difficult would it have been to play them chronologically?

A Story To Die For sees Kathryn playing Patricia Williams, the assistant to an old writing friend of Jessica Fletcher and an aspiring writer herself.  Patricia gets embroiled in the case of the murder of an ex-KGB author at a speakers conference.

The promo photo shown above is now in the Gallery.  Thanks to Kathy for passing it along.

Waitress, Another Slice Of Murder – ITV3 Tomorrow

msw_s12e22_094This is another of our occasional Media Alerts aimed at making our UK based readers aware of upcoming appearances of Kathryn on our TV screens.

Since taking over the broadcasting of the popular US TV series Murder, She Wrote here in the UK at some point in the last 18 months from the BBC, ITV have been getting through them at quite a rate.  This is one of the last ever episodes and there are over 260 episodes of them in total across 12 seasons.  Whether the commercial broadcaster has actually shown them all, and in order, we can’t be sure.

How ever they got here ITV3 is showing the episode titled “What You Don’t Know Can Kill You” tomorrow (Wednesday, 28th November 2012) at 3:20pm, with a repeat at 7pm the same day.  Those with access to the appropriate +1 channel could watch it four times in one day.  As they say: check local press for details.

This particular episode is of interest to us because Kathryn guest stars as Doreen The Waitress in one of her earlier TV roles.  The role might be quite small but Kathryn’s gets in some memorable moments.  The Southern accent and amazing smile both get a work-out.

Of course, Kathryn returned to MSW four years later with a more significant role in Murder, She Wrote: A Story To Die For, the second of four TV movies that were made after the series ended.

On Monday afternoon ITV3 start the whole shebang from the beginning again with season 1, episode 1.  At this rate it will be more than a year before we get Kathryn back so get her while she’s hot, so to speak :-)

There are already screencaps and a couple of small video clips from MSW: WYDKCKY in the KM UK Gallery.
