The Alright* Chap Gets UK Rating

poster_005We do things a little differently in Britain.  We drive on the correct side of the road (as do a few select countries), we use a sensible date format (to be honest most countries do that except for one notable exception) and we use our own age rating system for films.

The age rating actually means the minimum age that a person has to be to be allowed into a cinema to watch it… a part from the 12A, which is more of a recommendation and requires an accompanying adult (hence the ‘A’).

A couple of weeks ago the thriller The Perfect Guy got its rating from the US board responsible for such things.  Yesterday the Brits stepped up and gave their verdict on the film.

The BBFC (the British Board Of Film Classification) passed The Perfect Guy with no cuts required and it received the (sort of) predicted 15 rating.  No specifics for the decision have been released yet.  The more general description is:

  • strong violence, sex, threat

Just prior to the November launch date the BBFC will likely give a detailed description of areas of the film worthy of note.  They are very proactive at giving film going parents all the information they need to decide for themselves what their child can watch.  Of course, with the UK getting quite a late release date compared to other parts of the world we’ll likely know a lot about the film by then.

* Steady on old bean, we don’t want to give the gentleman ideas above his station  😉

The Perfect Guy Gets Rated

poster_005But he’s perfect isn’t he?  Surely that makes rating him redundant? :-)

The poster for not-long-now-until-release thriller The Perfect Guy was missing a key thing.  No, I don’t mean modesty or under-wiring.  I’m referring to the age rating.

The official body, the MPAA (Motion Picture Association Of America), in the USA that issues the classification and gives a brief explanation as to the reason has delivered its verdict on the film.

The pronouncement is thus:

  • Rated PG-13 for violence, menace, sexuality and brief strong language.

I’m guessing that Kathryn’s small role is unlikely to be a key factor in any of those elements.  Though of course with her one of them is always present 😉

Quite how the PG-13 will translate to other territories is difficult to say.  In the UK it would probably be closest to a 12 but could be pushed in to the 15 level depending on how the examiners see particular aspects.  As of yet there is no sign of the film being classified by the UK’s BBFC organisation.

The Perfect Guy is due for release in America on the 9th of September.

THE Perfect Guy Poster – Update

poster_005After a few teaser posters were released recently we now have something that appears to be a proper movie poster for the film The Perfect Guy.  You can tell because it’s got all that small text at the bottom with no punctuation so you can’t separate one name from another.

As you can see, it depicts Sanaa Lathan (Nip/Tuck), two unnamed bald gentlemen, Michael Ealy (Almost Human) and Morris Chestnut (Nurse Jackie).  Presumably one of them is ‘perfect’.

Which do you favour: Mr Leftie or Mr Rightie?

Importantly for us Kathryn fans, our favourite lady gets a look in.  If you can drag your eyes south you’ll see this:

poster_005There she is, sandwiched between Tess Harper (maybe from No Country For Old Men, she uncredited on TPG so far) and Rutina Wesley (True Blood).

The Perfect Guy is due for release in the US on the 9th of September, and much of the rest of the world in the following days and weeks.  In the UK we’re made to wait until November.

A copy of the poster is now in the KM UK Gallery HERE.

Update (2 July 2015):  I’ve found a much larger version of the poster which has replaced the original in the Gallery.

The Perfect Guy Posters

Over the weekend a couple of posters for The Perfect Guy surfaced.  Other news caused me to delay posting until now.  The lack of Kathryn (but not Morris :-) ) in them made them a lower priority too.

For the sake of completeness the two large-sized variants are now in the KM UK Gallery HERE.

The Perfect Guy Trailer – Kathryn Appears!

trailer_001_screenshot_005A trailer for the upcoming thriller The Perfect Guy has been released (well, it’s out there) and, as this post’s title makes clear, Kathryn makes an appearance.  It is very brief though.

A copy of the quite lengthy video and some HD-sized images from it can now be found in the KM UK Gallery HERE.  Those that don’t like to know anything about what happens in a movie before seeing it in full might be best advised to steer clear.  Just look at the pictures instead. They give nothing away about the plot, just that Kathryn is gorgoeous and that’s not a surprise to anyone!

The Perfect Guy stars Sanaa Lathan (The Cleveland Show) as a newly single lady that meets a handsome gentleman and starts a new relationship with this seemingly ideal guy.  Michael Ealy (Almost Human) is that man.  Unfortunately for Sanna’s Leah, he’s becomes rather possessive.  The film is due for release from September.

Kathryn has a small role as Karen, a friend of Leah.  We see them together in a restaurant in the trailer.
