If The Rains… Update

A quick update to the piece posted previously.

Ben Patrick Johnson, author of the new novel If The Rains Don’t Cleanse, posted the following comment against the YouTube version of the audio excerpt recorded by Kathryn.

Kathryn was a DREAM to work with.

Believe it or not we had just one hour to record this … she got the character quickly — Eva is in her blood, so to speak.

The book was inspired by my real family history. The character Kathryn is reading is my mother! It was surreal getting to direct Kathryn playing my own mom, let me tell you!

If the book sells well, maybe we can get Kathryn to read the whole novel for audiobook! Nothing would make me happier.

Hope you enjoy the novel.

Ben is clearly a fan, and why wouldn’t he be? Let’s hope that there is enough interest in Kathryn doing this for it to become a reality. I certainly like the idea of Kathryn reading a book to me in that accent, or any accent

Author, activist, commentator, model, narrator, voiceover artist. What doesn’t Ben Patrick Johnson do?

If The Rains Don’t Cleanse is Johnson’s latest novel, it tells the story of missionary schoolteachers and their families in the 1950s Belgian Congo. Principal character Eva Dunagan is based on Johnson’s mother Ava, the story is based on her experiences.

Ben details in the 26 May 2009 entry of his MySpace blog that Kathryn recorded this excerpt in the week before the Memorial Day weekend. The implication is that just this 10 minute section was recorded, so hold off on any thoughts that Kathryn has recorded the whole audiobook. I’ve found no evidence of an audiobook recording being made available in the future. Perhaps if you let the author and publisher know you really like the excerpt they will get Kathryn to do it.

CC Season 7 US Premiere Date

SpoilerTV (amongst others) is reporting that the season 7 première of Cold Case will air in the US on 27 September 2009. This is in the new timeslot of 10pm. See SpoilerTV’s article here.

In other CC S7 news, it is rumoured that Bobby Cannavale will be reprising his role of Eddie Saccardo in at least three episodes, starting with episode three. Apparently Lilly Rush seeks him out in “a time of need”. SpoilerTV’s report can be found here.

KM UK Exclusive! Still More Pensacola Screencaps & Videos

The latest batch of screencaps and video clips of Kathryn in Pensacola: Wings Of Gold are now in the Gallery. Four episodes worth covering episodes 12-16. Yes, I know, that’s five episodes not four. Unfortunately episode 15 is, to go with the military vernacular, AWOL.

Gallery Registration Issues

I’ve noticed that a few people have had problems with the registration process for the Gallery. I am sorry if you’ve experienced an issue. I wish the process was a little clearer, but it generally seems to work quite well. The process should be fully automatic without requiring any intervention from myself.

I have written some basic instructions on the process, you can find them here.

However, if you have tried to register but are still waiting for the confirmation email then please check any spam or junk email folders. The email is sent very quickly, it should be with you in a few minutes of completing the form. If after few hours you have still not received the confirmation email and you can’t find it in any junk or spam folders please contact me. Send me the user name and email address you submitted and I will enable your account manually.

Alternatively, if you have received the email, click the link in it and you will be taken back to the Gallery front page. The system will have confirmed your details and enabled the account. It doesn’t show any sign that it has, but it has. Just trust that it has worked and then login with the details you submitted originally.

If you have created more than one account in the Gallery (perhaps you changed your mind on the user name you wanted to use) please contact me with details so I can delete the unused one.
