Scotty’s Back

001Ooops!  I mean Danny :-)

I’m sure I don’t need to remind the many Danny Pino fans amongst you, but he returns to the small screen this fall season with his new role in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.  Detectives Nick Amaro (Danny) and Amanda Rollins (fellow newcomer Kelli Giddish) join Det. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and the remaining squad.

If the details on IMDb are to be believed (and I haven’t researched this further than that) Danny may not actually be appearing in the first episode.  I guess they can’t have all the new characters just arrive en masse and will introduce them over a few shows.

L&O: SVU starts it’s 13th season tomorrow night (21 Sept) at 10pm on the ABC TV network in America.

Danny Gets SVU Gig – 400th Post!

Last week we found out that Danny Pino (Scotty Valens in Cold Case) was taking part in auditions for a new role on the long-running series Law & Order: SVU.  Danny was up against at least 4 other actors so it was always going to be a difficult ask.

So it is great news that Danny got the job.  He and Kelli Giddish will be playing new detectives when the show returns.  Congratulations to them both.

The Deadline website reports.

As a sidenote this is the 400th post on KM UK.  Yeah us! 😎

Danny Up For SVU Role

We continue our “other Cold Case alumni posts to start the week with” theme with news that Danny Pino is apparently testing for the lead in Law & Order: SVU to replace the Chris Meloni.

Danny’s up against at least 4 other actors for the role so good luck to Danny.

The always on the ball Deadline website report in full HERE.

Don’t worry, we’ll be returning to Kathryn-related posts a little later.

Tracie Wonders About The Future No More

001Sadly it looks like the pilot for the new Wonder Woman series, which starred Cold Case alumni Tracie Thoms, has not been picked up for a full series, as Nellie Andreeva over at Deadline.com reports.  It is not an official announcement, they don’t tend to do that, but Deadline is rarely wrong.  See the full article HERE.

In that same report you will see mention that “an order for Stephen Gaghan’s sprawling drama Metro is considered extremely unlikely too.”  This is bad news for Danny Pino as this is the show that was previously known as S.I.L.A. or Special Investigations L.A.

It has not been a good few months for a trio of Cold Case stars returning to TV as the drama series that Kathryn was co-producing never got beyond the script stage.

Danny Pino Signed For New Pilot – Update x2

I’ve been informed by regular reader IcyWinter that news has broken regarding Danny Pino, Cold Case’s Scotty Valens, starring in a possible new TV show.

The NBC show is called S.I.L.A. (Special Investigations Los Angeles) and is a drama involving the police and politicians.  Danny is down as playing the partner of a “Special Investigations Unit” detective.  This is just a pilot at the moment, and Danny is apparently the first actor to be cast, so everything could change.  I’m sure I speak for all of us at KM UK in wishing Danny the best of luck in his future career.

You can read Nellie Andreeva’s news article at Deadline.com.

Although this sort of news falls outside the normal scope of this site I am more than happy to report news on Kathryn’s Cold Case castmates as I know many of you are big fans of them.  If you find any such news that you would like to share then please contact me.

Update: Deadline.com have posted a follow-up piece about further casting news for this show.  Daniella Alonso and Matthew Levy have signed for the pilot.  Still no word on the actor for the lead character.  Read the article in full HERE.

Update 2: And now Mädchen Amick has signed for the pilot as well.  She’ll play a lawyer.  Details on Deadline.com HERE.
