A Time For Heroes Celeb Carnival 2005

The title of this occasion (or at least part of if) seemed a fitting follow-on from the anniversary marked yesterday of the 9/11 tragedies. We should not forget that events like those are not just about those lost, but those that acted heroically in putting others first.

Of course, this particular charitable event we are looking at today was not about that day in September 2001.

‘Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation A Time For Heroes Celebrity Carnival’ is an annual event to raise funding and awareness for the cause of HIV and AIDS in children, focusing mainly on Africa and India. Founder Elizabeth Glaser herself contracted HIV during a blood transfusion and unknowingly passed it on to her children. Discovering that the then current treatments were solely aimed at adults drove her to set up the Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Elizabeth spent the rest of her life advocating for the issue.

Back in June of 2005 Kathryn attended the Time For Heroes event. Formal attire was clearly not required Not that Kathryn looked anything other than gorgeous in her more casual jeans, t-shirt, cardy and sneakers 😉

This is one that has been missing from the KM Gallery since its inception. We’ll put that right today in some style with a small collection of photos and a couple of videos now in the Gallery.

Cold Case S02E19 – Strange Fruit HD Screencaps

18 down and only 5 to go in the KM UK Summer Of HD 2013.

Will’s first cold case, and he wasn’t even a copper at the time. Strange Fruit tells the story of a black teenager killed in 1963, around the time that Martin Luther King gave his “I have a dream” speech. The 50th anniversary of that event was marked just a few weeks ago.

Jefferies (Thom Barry) was 12 when he found the body of Zeke Williams in an alleyway playground. Zeke and his parents had recently moved to Philly for his father’s work as an aerospace engineer. His senior position put him at odds with his white co-workers. Zeke is growing up in a world where people like King are speaking out. Things are changing. Too quickly for some. Too slowly for others.

Cold Case S02E18 – Ravaged Full HD Screencaps

Megan Easton turns up at the PPD HQ and, to quote one Dr. Sheldon Cooper, “wants to exploit any residual feelings you have for her”. She’s an old high school crush of Nick Vera’s and she wants the murder of her sister 10 years previously (1995) re-examined.

KM UK’s post this week for its Summer Of HD is Ravaged, episode 18 of Cold Case season two. It’s another of those heart-rending stories almost tailor made to speak to Lilly. An alcoholic mother of two struggling to cope with life. Her snow-covered body is found in the alley way behind the bar where she worked.

Cold Case S02E17 – Schadenfreude Full HD Screencaps

Schadenfreude:

pleasure derived by someone from another person’s misfortune.
ORIGIN German, from Schaden ‘harm’ + Freude ‘joy.’

A gold ring found on the body of a drug addict leads the Cold Case squad to the long-closed murder case. A rich and successful surgeon loses everything after a close friend dies on his operating table. Schadenfreude. The dead man’s wife takes him to the cleaners. More Schadenfreude. The doc’s well insured wife is killed in their home. Even more Schadenfreude. The jury in the 1982 case doesn’t believe his story about a pair of intruders. Yet still more Schadenfreude. It’s a veritable smorgasbord of Schadenfreude.

It’s a new post in KM UK’s Summer Of HD 2013 but the name of the episode escapes me…

Cold Case S02E16 – Revenge HD Screencaps

Lt. Stillman gets a confession out of someone right at the start of “Revenge”, the latest in the 2013 edition of KM UK’s Summer Of HD. It could a very short episode

John’s priest (and possible brother based on the character name), who is due to officiate at the baptism of the boss cop’s grandson, is able to tell him about a 1998 confession by one of his flock. The divulging of such information would normally break the sanctity of confession but the seeker of absolution had recently died. Deceased small-time criminal Bernie Ganz was involved in the kidnap of a young boy, Kyle Bream, who was subsequently found dead in the harbour.

Stillman and the squad re-open the case. Anything involving children always pushes Lil’s buttons, and Scotty has a few issues in that direction too as we find out in later seasons. John also deals with an old family issue regarding his daughter.
