The Perfect Guy Full HD Screencaps

The_Perfect_Guy_1080p_091Looking at just the screencaps now in the Gallery of Kathryn in The Perfect Guy you get a slightly different take on the film.

You see a film that could be called ‘Annoying Friend’.

The_Perfect_Guy_1080p_008You are Karen (Kathryn).  It’s your 10th wedding anniversary.  All your friends, including Leah (Sanaa Lathan) and her boyfriend Dave (Morris Chestnut), are at your great house with a great pool in the hills of LA for a great party.  Your husband gives great speech about your lives.  Great.

Dave is a good guy.  He is good with your child but out of your earshot, as you’ve taken your son to bed, he ruins the moment by using the old “kids are good when you can hand them back to their parents” line.  You’ve spent much time with Leah in the past discussing Dave being unwilling to commit to becoming a husband and father.

As an aside it was good hear the line every parent has said at some point get an airing on the big screen: “say goodnight to everyone” followed by the child responding “goodnight to everyone.”  The old ones.  The ones you’ve heard before.  A lot.

The_Perfect_Guy_1080p_095You know that Leah and Dave broke up on the night of your party, putting a damper on your memories of an otherwise lovely evening.  She made a point of giving you a full account.  Thanks Leah.

Months later, Leah tells you about her new boyfriend Carter.  His name is more interesting for a start so he’s bound to be exciting.  On first acquaintance (image above) he’s a little OTT (over the top) with a PDA (public display of affection) but turns out to be a very nice guy who lives up Leah’s hype.  You nearly overstep the mark during the meeting with some rather personal questions but he takes them in his stride.  Perhaps he really is the one for Leah.

Leah doesn’t contact you for a while because she’s soooo busy with her new perfect boyfriend.  Until she asks to meet you for a drink.  She sounds a little worried about something but you still expect to sit through a lot of The_Perfect_Guy_1080p_120“my boyfriend’s dreamy, he’s so handsome” etc. etc.  But no, she tells you a story about how Carter went psycho on some guy that was just talking to her about the car she was sat in.  You try to convince her to talk to Carter about his behaviour and tell her it was probably just a one off.

Radio silence from Leah again.  Another meeting, this time with another friend included.  Things do sound bad for Leah.  He’s done things.  Creepy things.  Maybe this guy really is nuts.  She should seek help.

And that’s the last you heard from Leah.  You thought of her the other day when you saw a news story about a body found shot dead in an apartment in the area where she lives.  Was deceased a man or a woman?  What was the name of Leah’s building?

You’re probably best rid of her.  She was hard work.

:-)

Kathryn’s role in The Perfect Guy was more significant than I thought it would be.  Karen was always described as a friend of Leah and we saw a clip of the lunch meeting in the trailer.  It could easily have ended there.  Instead Karen was the the catalyst of Leah’s initial breakup with Dave, part of the vetting panel that approved the new guy, the one that told her to stick it out with Carter, and then the leader of the “get out” committee.  That still doesn’t add up to much air time but it could have been much less.

Also, I’m very happy to report that ‘the smile’ made several very welcome returns to the big screen.  Less white wine (she’s holding a glass of the stuff in half the scenes) and more of the red dress (she’s sat down most of the time for godness sake!) would have been good too :-)

A set of Full HD (1080p) screencaps of Kathryn in The Perfect Guy are now in the Gallery.

The Perfect Guy is out on DVD and Blu-ray in America just after Xmas.  The US Amazon site has available for pre-order here.  No doubt the film’s success will continue into the home market.

Celebrity Kart Racing Toy Drive – Dec 2007 – Lap 2

toy_drive_017I[t] coulda been a contender!

toy_drive_007KM UK’s 2015 Advent Calendar is themed around the Where’s Wally/Waldo? book idea.  Each daily image is of Kathryn in one of her minor film roles and (sort of) obscured in the picture.  If public appearance photos had been included I could have used the one above.  OK, she’s not exactly hidden but she’s not the only one with long blonde hair in it either :-)

toy_drive_002Every so often I like to revisit an old public appearance with an update of new or improved photos.  If possible I make them date appropriate.  This celebrity karting event in aid of the Marine Toys For Tots Foundation took place on December the 2nd in 2007.  Eight years and two days ago!

You can read more about the event in the last post about it in 2012 here.  In the meantime enjoy the three large images you can see around this article that have now been added to the Gallery.

Bone Tomahawk HD Screencaps

screencaps_008Most of the information suggested that Bone Tomahawk would be released in US cinemas on Friday, and it would be available via VOD platforms at the same time.

Last week a review on the JoBlo website decried the lack of a cinema release for a film the writer felt needed to be seen on the big screen.

The truth appears to be somewhere in between.

Bone Tomahawk got a very limited theatrical release, possibly on only a dozen or so screens.  Box office numbers have proved difficult to find but there are only so many people that can watch a film at less than 20 cinemas in a few days.  It is not uncommon for a film to screened just once in a particular area to make it count as a cinema release and therefore eligible for awards and such.

A niche film with a lot of brutal violence is always going to be a tough sell to large audiences outside of the special festivals, which Bone Tomahawk has definitely been doing.  The news so far though is that the film has scored well in reviews.  The most common complaints are the length (it’s 132 minutes) and the slow pace in the first half.  That may be deliberate to make the steady ramping up of the pace and the ending more significant.

screencaps_011But what of Kathryn’s role?  I can confirm that she is in two short scenes.  The film script that is floating around that there Internet is accurate.

The first establishes that Sheriff Hunt (Kurt Russell) as a caring type.  His wife Lorna (Kathryn) is not in good health but he’s tried to make her feel better the night before (nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more, a nod’s as good a wink to a blind bat etc.).  The tender scene is interrupted by a visitor letting the Sheriff know of a problem in the town.

screencaps_018Ten minutes later (in the film) the couple are together in their house again.  The Sheriff is preparing to leave on the rescue mission and Lorna is helping but is clearly very concerned about her husband’s safety.

Neither scene is vital to the plot.  Plenty would have cut them both due to the pacing issue.  However, they do ground the character.  He’s not a super hero.  He’s husband as well as a man who takes the duties that go with the Sheriff’s badge very seriously.  Kathryn does a fine job of course.  That all sounds like Kathryn in Moneyball, but without cutting.

screencaps_038If anyone would like to write a full review of Bone Tomahawk for KM UK then please let me know.  I’d love to publish your thoughts.

I’ve put together a small collection of HD screencaps of Kathryn in Bone Tomahawk.  They are in the Gallery now.

Thanks to horror film fan Fate815 for finding a short clip of one of Kathryn’s scenes on YouTube for you all to see.

Bone Tomahawk Trailer

trailer_001_screenshotHours after its first ever public screening at the Fantastic Fest event, finally a trailer has been released for Bone Tomahawk via the Entertainment Weekly website.  See the article in full here.

poster_002_1500x2215At 2m30s it is quite long for a trailer.  It gives you the basic set up of the plot with a few dramatic moments shown.

As you can see from the above screenshot (see the Gallery for a larger version) Kathryn makes a fleeting appearance.  That glimpse is probably in proportion with the duration of her role in the full 2 hour feature.

A small copy of the trailer has been added to the KM UK Gallery for your perusal.

Bone Tomahawk is due for general release in the USA, including via VOD services apparently, on October 23rd.

More B.O. For The Perfect Guy

poster_005Perhaps he’s not so perfect after all :-)

After its second weekend of release in the US of A, movie thriller The Perfect Guy stayed in the top four of the box office.

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, sequel to last summer’s hit, and Johnny Depp starer Black Mass took the 1st and 2nd spots respectively.  Last week’s runner up to The Perfect Guy, M. Night Shyamalan’s new film The Visit fared slightly better during the week to nudge ahead of it into 3rd place.

Also, apparently The Perfect Guy also opened in a few international territories, mostly in the middle and far east, which added an extra few hundred thousand dollars to the kitty.

trailer_001_1080p_007All-in-all so far the film has taken over $40m, more than three times the production budget of $12m.  A tidy little earner for the studio.  That’s before the release in most of the rest of the world, including the large European market.

To celebrate the continued success of the film I’ve added a small set of full HD (1080p) screencaps of Kathryn in the original trailer.  They are now in the Gallery.
