Happy Valentine’s Day
Is there some authority with whom I can lodge a formal complaint about this day?
Two years ago I came out on top in a poll regarding myself and certain special someone. Last year, much to my surprise, the actions of another interested party appeared to signal acceptance of that result. Finally, I might be getting somewhere I thought…
Since then: nothing. I wasn’t expecting legal documents to be drawn up or anything. A surprise arrival at London Heathrow clutching a one-way ticket and wearing a Paddington Bear-style tag reading “Please look after this lovely lady, thank you” would have sufficed. A large package sent overnight by FedEx might have been a bit cruel, but I’m sure she would have recovered quickly. No phone call. Not even a card 
Oh well. Guess I’ll just have to settle, once again, for sending a Valentine message.
