Fabien Martorell has sent a Tweet, following a Facebook page post, that his short film The Coin will première at the Palm Springs International ShortFest on Saturday the 22nd of June.  It will be at a 1:30pm screening at the Camelot Theatres in Palm Springs.

The short film, which stars Kathryn Morris and Christopher Lloyd (Back To The Future), was filmed last summer and revolves around a young boy meeting a homeless man at a shop.  Kathryn plays the boy’s very stressed mother.

The official programme for the event is not due to be released until tomorrow (9th June 2013) but Fabien has clearly been given the information ahead of time.

We wish everyone involved in the production all the best with the event.

You can read more about the ShortFest at the event’s website.

Update (9 June 2013):  The official programmes have been released by the ShortFest organisers.  The Coin will be screened alongside 8 other short films in a package called FantasyLand.  The group is comprised of films from all over the world including France, Taiwan and the United Kingdom.  As The Coin shows, these short productions can include some internationally famous actors.  An entry in FantasyLand from England, called Dust, stars Alan Rickman (Die Hard) and Jodie Whittaker (Attack The Block).  Fellow Brit actors Ian McKellen (X-Men), Brenda Blethyn (Little Voice) and Christopher Eccleston (Dr Who), and singer and The Voice UK coach Tom Jones also have roles in other films across the festival.

Update (10 June 2013):  The Palm Springs International ShortFest official press release announcing the 2013 line-up has been published.  You can read it here.  The world premiere of The Coin and Christopher Lloyd starring in it are mentioned, Kathryn is not name-checked but it’s an incredibly lengthy and impressive list of actors from all over the world so we’ll forgive the oversight on this occasion :-)
