Kathryn From Embers Interviews

poster_2049x3000Kathryn and the key members of the cast and crew of the new movie From Embers, gave a series of press interviews as part of the publicity campaign around the recent limited run theatrical release.

In each case Kathryn was able to explain how she was drawn to the project particularly because it portrayed a single mother with an autistic child.  Lead actress Kara Wang, plays that mother, the almost correctly spelt Lily :-)

I’ve pulled together links to 3 interviews in which various combinations of writer/director Kate Bohan, and actors Matthew Morrison, Kara Wang, Kayla Bohan, and Kathryn speaking to a journalist.

In no particular order they are:

Collider’s Arezou Amin chat with all of them HERE.

“…I felt like this movie did a good job of weighing out all of the different the genres that came together into one family story.”

Brandon Schreur of Coming Soon talking to just Kara and Kathryn HERE.

“Kate Bohan must have known to send it to me because a lot of people don’t know that I have twin sons on the spectrum. She knew that my heartstrings would be pulled.”

The Direct writer Russ Milheim interviewing the five HERE.

“So, I thought I just would love to be part of telling this story. Playing a character that is different. She’s a bit of a childless cat lady, and she’s supportive, but she’s complex.”

From Embers Premiere Event

from_embers_premiere_002From Embers had it’s official premiere in Los Angeles last Sunday (27th October 2024).

Most of the main cast we able to attend with Kathryn.  Nice to see her out an event like this again.  It’s been a while.

Alongside Kathryn were the writer/director of the film Kate Boham (Harper) and lead actors Matthew Morrison (Glee) and Kara Wang (Top Gun: Maverick, “Top Gun: Maverick”).  Other cast members Kayla Bohan (Kayla), Alexander J. Lee (9-1-1: Lone Star) and Omi Vaidya (Metro Park) also attended.

It looks like after the screening there was a Q&A with the cast/crew.

You’ll find a small set of images I’ve managed to collate from the event in the KM UK Gallery HERE.

From Embers In US Cinemas

poster_001_2049x3000There are signs that the new dramatic film From Embers, which sees Kathryn take on a key role, has started to have screening in US cinemas.

A release date of the 25th of October, that’s last Friday at the time of writing, was being widely reported for the movie already.  It looks like that might have taken place at a location in Santa Monica, California.

For those in the Santa Monica area the Monica Film Center has 3 screenings per day up until the end of the month.  Check the details on the Laemmle website HERE.

If you find yourself further north in the state of California between the 8th and 14th November, the Cinelounge Tiburon venue is also holding showings.  The schedules indicate one per day (except the Monday, which has none) over the week.  See the Cinelounge website HERE.

Across the US, even further north, and several weeks later takes you to New York.  From Embers looks like it will be screened in the Cinema Village site for 7 days from the 22nd of November.  Go to the  Cinema Village website for details HERE.

Hopefully these screenings will help the film gain publicity through reviews prior to a wider release via streaming services.

From Embers Update, Poster, And Stills

still_001Here’s an update on the upcoming movie From Embers.  It has been nearly a year since we first heard about this film and things have clearly progressed in recently weeks.

First of all, a release date of 25th October 2024 is being shown for the film.  It is marked as being ‘limited’.  This could mean that it will just be available to the viewing public in a theater in Los Angeles for a few days to make it eligible for the Oscars.  Within the industry this is very common practise for smaller films and even streaming service releases for that reason.

The drama written and directed by Kate Bohan has also, apparently, been submitted to a number of film festivals around the world.  We’ll try and bring you news on those as and when.

To go along with that news we also have a set of promotional stills and a poster.  You can see selected highlights (the images with Kathryn in them) above and below, and get a much better look in the KM UK Gallery HERE.

Cold Case v2.0 Case Closed

CC_Titles_16Sadly, it seems that much like the ghosts at the end of each episode, the possibility of a new version of Cold Case is fading.

The TV Line website, picking up on the briefest of mentions on a Deadline site wrap-up of CBS-related news, is reporting that the Cold Case reboot is not going forward.  We posted about the project being in development back in April.

There was never any definitive news on the project but the talk was of a new location and cast with original creator Meredith Stiehm back script writing.  Danny Pino was rumoured to have been contacted about reprieving his role as Detective Scott Valens.  Kathryn was not similiarly referred to but you would have think that would have been a target for any new production.

A large number of TV show projects are in various stages of development all the time.  Most don’t get made.  Cold Case was a strong enough premise, with good writing, acting, and a different tone to so many cop shows.  It was one of the lucky ones.

It is interesting to note that the initial April report on Deadline about this new show being developed is one of the most commented on stories they’ve had in a long time.  Few articles since have come even close to it.  That clearly indicates the love for Cold Case and the wish to see it revived.
