Win A Signed Bone Tomahawk Poster – Dread Central

poster_002_1500x2215Following on from our post on Thursday about winning Bone Tomahawk on DVD/Blu-ray, how about a signed poster.

Horror news website Dread Central has such a work of art signed by various members of the success western.

Actors Kurt Russell (Death Proof), Patrick Wilson (Watchmen), Matthew Fox (Lost), and Richard Jenkins (Six Feet Under) have taken pen to paper along with writer/director Craig S Zahler, and producers Dallas Sonnier and Jack Heller.  Sadly Kathryn is notable by her absence from that list.

All it takes is a properly subject-lined email sent to the correct address with your details.  No question to answer, no “reason why I should win” sentence to write, or special slogan to create.  Just an email.  You have until the very start of the day on the 28th of December, taking into account the timezone.  Get it done before the 27th to be safe.

Unusually for this kind of thing it appears not to be limited to only those in North America.  At least if the asterixed line at the bottom of the page “Some International Shipping Available” is to be believed.

See the Dread Central page here.

The Coin Is Sent To Coventry

rootstoshoots_logo_260x206But in a good way, of course.

We might have almost forgotten about it but The Coin keeps on popping-up.  Perhaps it is appropriate that this old acquaintance has resurfaced just in time for Xmas.

Friend of the site writer/director/producer Fabien Martorell has let it been known that his Christopher Lloyd/Kathryn Morris starring short film The Coin is making another event appearance.

On Xmas eve-eve-eve in the city of Coventry here in the UK the Roots To Shoots organisation is holding another film night made up of short films from around the world.  It takes place this coming Tuesday, the 22nd of December 2015, at The Tin Music & Arts, The Coal Vaults.  It is in the heart of the city, right next to a section of canal

I’ve found almost no information about the films showing apart from what is apparently a rare showing of a short called Stew & Punch by Simon Ellis.  A dinner takes a turn for the worse when the hosts start arm wrestling.

The only other film, again apparently, being shown that we know of is Fabien’s project after The Coin called Unbelief.  Fabien mentioned it as well.  Unbelief is also a short and stars Tobin Bell (the Saw movies) and Andrew Howard (soon to be seen on Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. series).  One them is an assassin, it’s Xmas Eve.  I’m assuming that the assassin is on the ‘naughty list’ and is out for revenge  :-)

The show starts at 7:30pm and runs until 11pm so there is time for plenty of films of around 15 minutes long.  It is only £5 (less than $8 and €7) to get in with tickets only sold at the door.

You can find a few more details on The Tin Arts & Music website here.

Win US Bone Tomahawk DVD And Other News

poster_002_1500x2215Star Wars!  Star Wars!  Star Wars!  Star Wars!  Star Wars!  Star Wars!  Star Wars!  Star Wars!  Star Wars!  Jar Jar Binks!  Star Wars!  Star Wars!  Star Wars!  Star Wars!  Xmas!  Star Wars!  Star Wars!  Star Wars!  Star Wars!  Star Wars!

It seems that every media outlet at the moment is finding ways to jump on the Star Wars bandwagon, slapping tenuous references to the movie juggernaut for the sake of a few extra clicks.

And why should KM UK be any different?  :-)

In less than two weeks the western horror film Bone Tomahawk will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in the United States Of That There America.

I’m sure it won’t be the first or the last but the Irish Film Critic website is running a contest to win a copy.  No skill necessary, apart from the skill to type your details into a form on a web page.  See HERE for full details.  It is only open to US and Canadian citizens over 18 years of age.  Sorry.

Elsewhere the film has been receiving many plaudits.

Audiences Everywhere calls it the Best Romantic Horror/Western of the year.  Not sure about ‘romantic’ part, but even cannibalistic troglodytes need love too.

Bone Tomahawk‘s Craig Zahler features in The Film Stage‘s list of 2015 Best Directorial Debuts alongside films like Ex Machina.

The Phoenix Critics Circle nominated the film in the best horror category, and Richard Jenkins was included in the Best Supporting Actor short list.

Jenkins also gets a Best Supporting Male nod in the Spirit Awards nominations announced a few weeks ago.  The winners will be declared at the ceremony in late February.

Congratulations to all involved.

The Perfect Guy Could Be A Winner

poster_005By the end of November The Perfect Guy‘s box office take had risen to around $60m, five times the reported production budget.  The DVD/Blu-ray sales, due to start just after Xmas, can only help push it higher.

That sort of success is bound to attract attention to all those involved.

The film will have garnered a bit more interest yesterday (8th December) when the National Association For The Advancement Of Colored People (NAACP) announced the nominees for the 47th running of its annual Image Awards.

The NAACP has put forward both The Perfect Guy leads for awards.  Sanaa Lathan and Michael Ealy appear in their respective Outstanding Actor/Actress category.  Michael is up against the likes of Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave) and Will Smith (Men In Black).  Sanaa is vying with Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder) and Zoe Saldana (Avatar) amongst others.

Their co-star Morris Chestnut has missed out on actor or supporting actor in film nominations but gets one for acting in the TV series Rosewood.

For obvious reasons Kathryn does not figure, and was no doubt not even considered, for the supporting category.

The film itself is not in the shortlist of five films up for Outstanding Motion Picture.

The awards ceremony is due to take place on the 5th of February 2016.  Good luck to all the nominees.

The Perfect Guy UK Box Office

poster_005As of yesterday (22nd November) The Perfect Guy had racked up just a whisker short of $57m in total takings world wide.  Only about 4% of that was from non-US countries.

The thriller film was number one in its opening weekend, which started on Friday the 11th of September.

Last Friday (20th November) The Perfect Guy opened in the UK.  Unlike the first weekend in US it was up against some very strong competition.  The latest James Bond movie, Spectre, is still going strong after four weeks and the final instalment in The Hunger Games quadrilogy, Mockingjay Part 2, premièred.  That’s some tough competition.

Couple that with a no doubt different demographic, less publicity, and stars not so recognisable to a UK audience and it is understandable why The Perfect Guy took around £100,000 (approx $150,000).  Perhaps it’ll be a slow burn.
