Cold Case Cast Catch-up – Feb 2012

promo_002A quick round-up of what is going on in the careers of the non-Kathryn members of the Cold Case cast.

First up, Danny.  As we all know he’s on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.  It seems to be going well for him and fellow newcomer Kelli Giddish.  Joining a long established show, effectively replacing a much loved character and actor cannot have been easy.  I’m sure that some die-hard fans will not accept such a change but from what I’ve read the audience figures are strong and many do seem to like the contribution Danny and Kelli have made so far.  There is no news on other work by Danny to report on at this time.

Who’s next?

Tracie Thoms.  Lovely Tracie has been busy since November doing a play in New York called Stick Fly (previously reported here).  The play reaches the end of its successful run this very weekend.  Today (24th Feb 2012) sees the UK release of a movie Tracie has a small role in (she’s credited as “CIA Analyst”) called Safe House.  It’s an action film starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds.  Released in the US a couple of weeks ago it has been very successful.  I seem to recall seeing a Tweet by Tracie about another play she will be in soon, but I can’t find it now.  No doubt we won’t have to wait long until she’s strutting her stuff on a stage again.  Going by what is on IMDb September sees another movie starring Tracie released.  Based on the cast list alone it will be a monster: Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt, Piper Perabo and Jeff Daniels all feature.  The picture goes by the name of Looper.  With a name like that it is probably time-travel related.  This time (pun intended) Tracie’s character gets a name: Beatrix.  Also, IMDb lists Tracie as being in a forthcoming film called Liberty City: The American Dream but it is likely still in the early stages so details are scant.

Since we covered his appearance in an episode of House last October things seems to have been quite quiet on the Thom Barry front.  The remake, in 3D, of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre is due later this year and there is a possibility Thom may reprise his role in The Fast & The Furious franchise next year.  Other than that all we can add is a short film listed on IMDb called The Truth In Being Right which involves the death of a rock star and the way his brothers deal with it.  Thom is credited as “interviewer”.

Shortly after we talked about Jeremy Ratchford’s new movie The New Republic he made an appearance on the new series of Hawaii Five-O.  Looks like the episode involved the wedding of one of the major characters and a few major guest stars to Jeremy might have been somewhat overlooked.  It is not clear what is happening with The New Republic at the moment.  However, this weekend will see likely see Jeremy’s next film get a significant amount of publicity.  As the movie stars BAFTA winner and Oscar nominee Octavia Spencer, the film Lost On Purpose will be mentioned in the pre-Oscar coverage as they discuss her future work.  The is about a woman running a small independent diary farm in the face of larger corporations.  Jane Kaczmarek (Malcom In The Middle) is the farmer and C. Thomas Howell (Southland) is the big, bad business man.  For more details see Jeremy’s page on IMDb.

Anyone left?  Just the boss.

John Finn has followed up his two-parter on NCIS (mentioned previously here) with a guest starring role in a recent episode of the TV show Blue Bloods.  Interestingly the episode was directed by a certain Mr David Barrett (aka One Of The Lucky Ones).  I wonder if having a regular director and producer of Cold Case involved in anyway helped John get the role…?  Nothing else to report on John.

If you have news on new projects by any of the main cast members of Cold Case let us know so we can report it in a future update.
