Moneyball World Première On 8th September?

We already know that Moneyball is due to get its world première as a gala event at the Toronto International Film Festival.  The festival runs from the 8th to the 18th of September.

What hasn’t been announced yet is the exact schedule for the festival.  However, the actor Casey Bond, who stars in Moneyball, may have let slip the date of the Moneyball’s first screening in a recent interview.  Casey was chatted with Maximo TV at last night’s (8th August) première for the comedy movie 30 Minutes Or Less.

It may be a mistake, he may mean that it premières at the festival which starts on the 8th, but Casey does state that the world première will be on the 8th of September.  That would make it the opening event of the whole festival.  Brad Pitt, no doubt accompanied by Angelina Jolie, on the red carpet would certainly start the festival off with a bang.

You can find the video of Casey Bond’s interview with Maximo TV HERE on YouTube.

Moneyball gets its general release in North America on September 23rd.  It is scheduled for the UK a couple of months later.

It could be a limited released, that date; which usually happens with certain films. It’s limited to cities like LA and NY, then on the 23 here in the US, it’s released to all 50 states.

A lot of films get limited releases before they are released everywhere; especially if it goes to a film festival.

In the US, it’s September 23rd, the date has not changed. From what I’m hearing Moneyball is going to be a big box office hit.

    • I think you may have misunderstood the post a little. It is about the world première, not the release (limited or otherwise).

I don’t think Moneyball will fall into the category of films that get a limited release, at least not in the US.

@RichE- Some people think that a world premire means that it will be shown in all theaters, which is not true. I have read that some movies that go to festivals do have a limited released before the actually nationwide released.

I’ll keep my eyes out If I see anything, hopefully we hear something about Kathryn…
