Do You Know The Way To San… Antonio?

san_antonio_film_festival_430x140Short film The Coin is heading South for the summer as it has been selected to be shown at the San Antonio Film Festival which is held, surprise surprise, in San Antonio, Texas.

screenshot_001The festival runs from Monday the 28th of July for a full seven days until Sunday the 3rd of August.

A schedule has not yet been released so we can’t yet say when The Coin will be shown.  I’ll bring you more on that when it happens.

What we do know is that Fabien Martorell’s 9 minute long film will be sharing the billing with 40 other shorts.  There are also an impressive 22 feature films announced to be shown.  I’ve not had a chance to go through the list so I don’t know if any are premières.

At this point I’d link to the festival’s official website HERE and say it has more details, but there is not a lot there about the 2014 festival at the time of writing.

Thanks again to Fabien for letting us know about this.

Any Texans out there that might go along?

The Coin @ Scarborough Film Fest On Saturday

scarborough_film_festival_935x362A quick reminder for our friends in the East of Canada with a penchant for film.

The short film The Coin which stars Kathryn and Christopher Lloyd (Who Framed Roger Rabit) Scarborough Film Festival this weekend.  Based in an area of Toronto, Ontario, the festival started on the Tuesday just gone and continues until Sunday.

Fabien Martorell’s 9 minute production will be shown at the Fox Theatre on Queen Street East in a double bill with a feature filmed called Macondo.  The show starts at 7pm on Saturday, 7th June.

Be there.  Or be elsewhere doing something else.  It’s up to you.  It’s your life.  I can’t tell you what to do.  I’m not your mother… or am I? *

Full details of the second running of the Scarborough Film Festival can be found on the event’s website HERE.

 * To clear up any confusion: I am not your mother.

The Coin’s Scarborough Fare

scarborough_film_festival_935x362As reported late last week the Fabien Martorell short film The Coin will be screened at the Ontario, Canada-based Scarborough Film Festival in a couple of weeks time.

The line-up was announced then but the screenshot_001event timings were not.  The full schedule has now been released so here’s the important bit for any of our readers that can attend.

The Coin will be shown at a screening that starts at 7pm, Saturday, 7th June at the Fox Theatre on Queen Street East, Ontario.

Unlike other festivals that group short films like The Coin together to make a longer presentation, the SFF is pairing shorts with feature length films.  The Coin finds itself following a film called Macondo, a German film by writer/director Sudabeh Mortezai.

The official website HERE has everything you could possibly need to know about attending this, the 2nd running of Scarborough Film Festival.

The Coin Heads North Of The Border

scarborough_film_festival_935x362Another day, another film festival for The Coin.

poster_002The banner above may give you a false impression of where this one happens.  It ain’t in the ‘God’s own country’ North Yorkshire sea side town.  More’s the pity.

No, this time those in the other half of North America get a look in.  On the shore of Lake Ontario, Canada, this Scarborough is the one that’s a district of Toronto.

In early June the Scarborough Film Festival happens for only the 2nd time in its history.  At some point in the 6 day event the short film The Coin is due to receive a screening.  We’ll find out more details next week when schedules are released.

For more details on the film festival check out the official website HERE.

Thanks to writer/producer/director Fabien Martorell for letting us know The Coin was one of the officially selected films.  Let’s hope some of the cast and/or crew take the opportunity to attend.

Insert normal ‘if you go, let us know’ final paragraph here.

The Coin @ Champs-Élysées Film Festival – But When?

poster_001The organisers of the Champs-Élysées Film Festival in Paris have released the schedule for the upcoming 2014 event.

champs_elysees_film_festival_1447x2048Starting on the 11th June 2014 (a Wednesday) it runs for 7 days across 7 venues along, not surprisingly, the Avenue des Champs-Elysees between the world famous Arc de Triomphe and Place de la Concorde square which contains the Luxor Obelisk.

The short film The Coin will be shown at the festival as part of a collection under the banner Courts Métrages Américains (Hors écoles), which translates as ‘American Short Films (excluding schools)’.  I presume that submissions by students are dealt with separately.

Lucky for some the screening takes place on Friday the 13th of June at the MK2 Grand Palais, which is near the Place de la Concorde end of the avenue.

The Coin, co-starring Christopher Lloyd (Back To The Future) and by writer/director/produer Fabien Martorell, shares the bill with 5 other short films in a screening starting 8:45pm.

It appears that the screening is a one off, with no repeat viewings on the schedule.

You can find all the details on the festival website HERE (so far it is only in French, an English version is promised in a couple of weeks).
