SAY GOODNIGHT AND GO is a script we have loved and cradled like our own little baby for many years and many incarnations. We - Tracie Thoms, Lynn Wactor and I - came together as a team circa 2007 to make a romantic comedy that looked like our lives - messy, neurotic and diverse - with a lot of our dark sense of humor.
We are all so heavily influenced by music and the script has always been very music heavy. Andrea von Foerster was always such a wonderful fit as our Music Supervisor and later, one of our Producers. Her extensive background makes her the ideal candidate to secure the best score and soundtrack possible.
Ultimately, we hoped to have a female lead character that was older but not necessarily wiser, independent but not a workaholic and a lover of whiskey who’s not an alcoholic. She is every woman and she is every woman’s best friend.
SAY GOODNIGHT AND GO promises to be a popcorn good time with a soundtrack that you listen to for weeks.
After our last reading, our friend Doug Petrie suggested we shoot the opening of the script - a fantastic opening with a wedding, sex, betrayal, lies and love all in 3 minutes...with a kick ass song...
We can get everyone to work for free (!!) but we need to pay for :
Essentially changing a nice house into a wedding venue - complete with guests, chairs, flowers, etc.
Feeding the cast and crew for 2 days
Lights
A Wedding dress
A Bridesmaid's dress
