You and I know this is a stupid story. Let’s hope that the people of the National Enquirer really know it as well or there really is no hope for civilisation.

For some reason the US tabloid has decided to dredge up the Kathryn/Brad/Angelina story that was first fabricated last year when the movie Moneyball was filming. But they are not repeating that nonsense. No, of course not. Heaven forbid.

Surprisingly late to the party, as Moneyball has been out several weeks, the Enquirer has spotted that Kathryn’s scenes are not in the movie. I’ll leave it to them, in their own inimitable style, to try explain that cutting Kathryn’s scenes made sense for the movie. They are not implying anything at all. Honest.

The article on the National Enquirer website is not available outside the US so I’ve copied the text below.

Update (13 Oct): ZimGossip is carrying the story on a more widely available site HERE. Also, Sophie S. Benvenuti at Gather.com has written a similar piece to mine about the National Enquirer article. You can read her take in this “news” HERE.

DID Snippy ANGIE snip SEXY STAR out of Smitten BRAD’s hit flick?

BRAD PITT KILLED HIS WIFE!!

Hot gossip headlines like “In LUST!” ballyhooed sizzling chemistry and budding romance between Brad Pitt and sexy blonde co-star KATHRYN MORRIS, who played his second wife in home run hit “Moneyball” – but suddenly, following published reports that ANGELINA JOLIE was steaming with jealousy, ALL of Kathryn’s scenes were mysteriously CHOPPED!

Instantly, whispers whipped up that Angie was behind the shocking celluloid massacre – but here’s the real scoop from My Moneyball Spy, who reports: “When Brad, who’s also one of the producers, saw the rough final cut of the film, he felt the story line worked better with him NOT getting happily remarried, because his character’s essentially a loner.

“So he ordered all of Kathryn’s scenes to be cut – even though you can see he’s still wearing a gold wedding ring throughout the movie. That’s because it was far too expensive to reshoot the scenes, or to have the ring digitally removed.

“The only spouse that made the cut is the ex-wife of Brad’s character, played by ROBIN WRIGHT.”

(I can hear you smart gossip fans asking: “Mike, are you sure Angie had nothing to do with Brad’s decision to cut Kathryn?” No comment, folks.)

Yet again the French television viewing public prove that they appreciate Kathryn more than most by giving her another magazine cover starring role. This week’s edition of Télé Magazine (number 2888, for the week 12-18 March) is previewing Cold Case season 7 due to be broadcast on the France 2 channel.

The photos used to illustrate the article are not new but they’ve chosen some great shots of Kathryn. Scans of the cover and article pages can now be found in the Gallery. Below you can find a transcript of the French text and a basic translation into English (Google translate + manual editing). If any French speakers have any suggestions for corrections please let me know.

Huge thanks to Rusher for putting in a great deal of effort to help me with this.

COLD CASE

Lilly Rush escapes death and finds the love of her life

By Rike Heinemann

In the season 6 finale episode of “Cold Case”, as broadcast by France 2, Lilly Rush narrowly escaped death by drowning. Previewing the return of Kathryn Morris, here are some hints of the events that await viewers in the seventh and final season.

Successfully escaping the car, thus avoiding drowning, Lilly Rush resumed her work of investigating the murders of the past with her usual zeal. But her anger is high at the thought that her alleged killer, Moe Kitchener (Daniel Baldwin), remains at large… As usual, the 7th season will plunge us into different worlds and very different eras. The crime scenes are sometimes spectacular, sometimes witnessing a sad reality: a transatlantic liner, a circus, a juvenile detention home, a recording studio, a racecourse, Chinatown…

The subsequent interrogation of witnesses and suspects and investigations take us from one possible murderer to another. Singers, priests, clowns, but also brothers, fathers, mothers… Which is the real culprit? New for this season, the family gets involved. What is going on with the mother of Scotty Valens (Danny Pino)? Where does the half-brother (Brett Davern) Lilly fit in? Christina (Nicki Aycox) and her sister, what happens there? For the first time, Lilly will meet her father’s new family. “At the beginning of the series, Lilly had no privacy,” says Kathryn Morris. “Meanwhile her mother died of alcoholism, she saw her father, and they had a lot of arguments. But he is still there, and they seem to love each other somehow. I think there will be many dramatic moments with her father and his other children this seventh season. It stirs old resentments, but it also has the possibility that Lilly has opened a bit, to be less introverted. Maybe I’d be a better cop if I took a day from time to time to participate in a food meal! (Laughter) In her private life as well, an old flame is rekindled in a few episodes with Eddie Saccardo (Bobby Cannavale), a narcotics cop, as he resurfaces after a long period on an undercover operation, and Lilly once again falls into his arms. The “chemistry” is stronger than ever between them, “Saccardo is a real man,” says Kathryn Morris. “He is a cop and a man, he is not straightforward, like her. He brings a little levity in to her life, and she pushes him to do more take themselves so seriously. They respect themselves, they understand each other, they both have a dirty job to do. But we will not see them around a candlelit dinner (laughs). Anyway, people want to see Lilly solve criminal cases and not put on a wedding dress!” Saccardo also supports her in her pursuit of Moe Kitchener, the major who tried to kill her and who was released for lack of evidence. “Eddie was using to handle this situation because, somehow, Lilly feels compelled to take the law itself. It becomes a game of cat and mouse. Kitchener was the devil, and it works well in history. I also loved playing with Daniel Baldwin, he was right in his role. He was the devil!” (Laughter) Will she take action and seek justice with her own hands, with the revolver provided by her lover? We will let you find out…

The music still plays an important role in the series, and is also the reason why there is no DVD of the series: the rights would cost far too much. We discover an episode with Santana, another of Ray Charles or even the Doors. “There was also an entire episode of Philly Soul, it is very nice. We can roughly get who we want,” says the delighted actress. “It is a great compliment for a small show like ours. I have always wanted us to use Led Zeppelin!” (Laughs) It is too late for Zeppelin, as this season 7 of Cold Case will be the last. Lilly Rush does delve into folders sometimes decades old. We will miss the little blonde with a big heart who hides her emotions behind her professionalism and a bit of hell. She will also miss Kathryn Morris: “I made over 150 episodes with her, and until the end, I always learned something new about this character. It was a fascinating role, an exciting experience. I regret that we did not continue, but I have lots of plans for the future. ” So it’s a goodbye!

It’s not a proper discussion-type of interview, more a simple question & answer session written up as a series of statements by Kathryn. We get Kathryn’s thoughts on her acceptance of her beautiful pale skin and the wish to challenge herself regularly.

Fearless Firsts

Kathryn Morris

The star of Cold Case reveals how she keeps her balance while staying on her toes

Kathryn Morris, 39, is best known for playing shy, afraid-to-be alone detective Lilly Rush on CBS’s hit show Cold Case. But in real life she pushes the envelope. “Each day I’m asking a little bit more of myself,” explains the Ohio native, who also appeared in the film Minority Report with Tom Cruise. “Trying something challenging helps me find a happy balance.” Here, Kathryn talks about the experiences that keep propelling her forward.

THE FIRST GIFT my parents gave me

When I was a child. I travelled with my parents and six siblings as a gospel singer. We had a group called Morris Code. Along the way I met ail kinds of people from different backgrounds and learned a great deal about tolerance. What I came away with is that you have to take everyone on an individual basis and assume that people really are trying to do their best in life – until they show you otherwise. That gift has served me well in my career.

THE FIRST TIME I truly appreciated my pale skin

I try not to obsess too much, but when I was a kid I used to hate my white skin because, back then, everyone always wanted a tan. As I got older and was going to my first prom, I wanted to have a tan, but it wasn’t happening. And I finally embraced my pale skin. I realized that maybe this is part of what makes me me – part of my package and spirit. I’m glad I did. I come from a long lime of farmers and have watched members of my family battle skin cancer – my father, for one. So now I wear SPF 45 sunscreen every day.

FIRST “alone doesn’t equal loneliness” lesson

A few summers ago I was working on a movie. And when I had free time, I’d drive to Lake Louise in Calgary, near where I was staying. I’d spend days taking photographs, going to lunch… just having quiet time with myself. Some people are friends with everybody. But I try to surround myself with positive people, or I choose to be alone. If I feel waves of negativity, I’ll just take a different turn and go down another hall. Those alone times – especially since I’ve become so busy – are great moments!

THE FIRST TIME I my comfort zone

A couple years ago I didn’t know how to swim very well underwater. So I decided to get my scuba certification. I learned it’s important to stretch myself a little but to not overdo it. Recently I had the opportunity to be the passenger in an Indy Formula car. So I did. We went 185 mph – it was so exhilarating. I felt like a new person after getting out of that car. I’m not an adrenaline junkie, but I feel like every once in a while I have to try something that’s not necessarily “in the box.” It’s an important secret to having a happier and healthier life. I think I might try motocross next.

THE FIRST IMPRESSION people have of me

I’m a more colorful person than my Cold Case character, Lilly. I’m more alive and I’m much warmer. People are always surprised by how much more vibrant I am. The things that bring me joy in life are as simple as taking a walk in the sun, having my two cats around at night while I’m doing the dishes, or hanging out with friends and family who love me for who I am.

Kathryn had just visited London (why didn’t you say you were coming?) with her sister and got to take in the sights and shops of London town between filming promos for Sky TV (the broadcaster of Cold Case in the UK that goes unnamed in the article). It sounds like she enjoyed her time greatly.

In the Gallery are scans of the magazine pages and after the jump is a transcript of the interview.

Kathryn, if you are ever visiting the UK again please do let me know. You can bunk with me to save on hotel

Big thanks again to my magazine girl Sammie for her help.

London Rush

The home of Sherlock Holmes, James Bond and Scotland Yard proved an irresistible getaway for Cold Case detective Kathryn Morris

ON COLD CASE, Detective Lilly Rush goes back in time every week to solve some of the toughest murder mysteries. So it’s no surprise the actress who portrays her, Kathryn Morris, would do a little time-travelling of her own during a recent trip to London. Although she didn’t close any cases while there, Morris did find time to see all the historic sites – and visit the Sherlock Holmes Museum (“Because I’m a detective, I thought it would be really fun to go see Sherlock Holmes’ office, she jokes). Watch! caught up with the Cold Case star to get the details on her British invasion.

Watch!: What did you think of London?

Kathryn Morris: I loved the city – it has such history. We were there for a week and went to Abbey Road. got to see Big Ben, go on the London Eye. I went with one of my sisters, and we got on one of those hokey double-decker bus tours. and we had the best time.
The bus tour is great because you can just hop on and off; they take you by all of the different beautiful churches like Westminster Abbey. There are so many stops along the way, and so many different things to see. We got off at the Tower of London, which was one of my favorite things to do. It’s where Henry VIII lived, and it’s just so historical and spooky at the same time. They go and show you where all of the beheadings took place – and that used to be entertainment! All of the different things that occurred inside the Tower of London – you just can’t believe that this is what you read about in history class. And then here you are, this is where Anne Boleyn was put for a really long time, and this is where Henry VIII used to sleep every night.

W: Any recommendations?

KM: I would highly recommend staying at the Dorchester Hotel, and having afternoon tea every day with a girlfriend. It’s a really great trip to do with a girlfriend or your sister. And then you can walk down to Oxford and Bond Street and do all the great shopping – they have everything from their famous department stores, like Harrods and Top Shop. Every girl has to know that you can pretty much spend several days in Top Shop and rolling around in all of the great fashion and shoes – it’s kind of ridiculous.
And then when you’re done, and you’ve had your tea at the Dorchester, there’ll be just enough time to go out to the theater and see a wonderful play. I got to see Judi Dench in Noel Coward’s play Hay Fever, which is fantastic. You know, the live theater there is just incredible, and to see Judi Dench perform live… all of the actors that have been training there since they were born.
Another thing to do is go to Covent Garden. Just go and hang around in the shops and the open air and the great cafés and great little shops and cobblestone streets.

W: Anything you didn’t get to do but want to next time?

KM: The Jack the Ripper tour across the street from the Tower of London – the next time I go back 1m going to do that.
And if you really want to get crazy – I didn’t get to do this but I would like to do it next time – take the Chunnel. You take the Eurostar first class to Paris for the day, go shopping and come back.
And then my hairdresser on the show – she’s from London – was telling me that I have got to go out to Knightsbridge and go to Harvey Nichols, which is where Princess Di used to shop, instead of Harrods. There’s always a competition between Harrods and Harvey Nichols, but I’m going to go with Princess Di.

W: Did you bring anything back from your trip?

KM: My sister and I went into the gift shop at the Tower of London, and they had all these board games. One was called Outrage – it’s a game where it’s all about trying to get the crown. It’s like Scrabble, but for kings, or like Monopoly, but for getting the crown. And then you know you’ve got to get your British socks with the flag and, Derby hats and Sherlock Holmes hats and stuff like that for your relatives. And you’ve got to get your tea.

W: How were the people there?

KM: Oh, they’re so lovely! All of the boys look kind of like Jude Law, and they all dress really well. They were just really friendly. You get the range of people that
come from the upper class, and then the real Cockney types. We went into a pub to get some fish and chips, and you sometimes couldn’t understand what they were saying. But, you know, when in Rome… You don’t want to be rude, so you just sort of look down at the menu and try to figure it out. It was like, “OK, I don’t know what she said, but I’m going to go ahead and order the shepherd’s pie.”

W: How was the food?

KM: I actually think they have some of the best Indian food in the world there. Indian food is a real speciality in England. And they’ve clearly worked on their food situation: sometimes they get a lot of heat for it. I’m not a big fan of the traditional English food, but there’s so much there now that you can have pretty much anything in every style. If you like Indian food, it’s a really great place for that.

W: So do you see Cold Case ever doing an on-location shoot in London?

KM: I did do some promos for [the British broadcaster airing Cold Case]. And that’s an interesting story because they wanted me to do all these stylized HBO-type of promos, where they built this fake Cold Case room, and I was saying things like “Murder is murder” in a British accent. Very Agatha Christie-like. It was sort of like dinner theater. “Murder is murder. And I won’t let you get away with it.” So we did all these campy takes on Lilly Rush.

W: Is there something that you always prefer to bring with you?

KM: I have these long john shirts that are different colors and they’re great for layering. I have one that’s pink and one’s green and one’s blue and has a little logo with tiny flowers on it. And it seems like no matter what time of year, they make me feel that I’m always at home… It’s like a staple, you know? Cute long underwear that can double as a layer. And one cute coat. You should always have one cute coat with you because then it can work for going to dinner or going to theater, or if you have to do an interview at the last second and you’re really on vacation. Girls should just walk around with a cute coat.

The star of Cold Case is now the sworn enemy of Angie

Brad Pitt
He fell for the star of Cold Case!

Angelina Jolie really needs to worry… Already last month, Brad was accused of seeing a stewardess. The little Frenchie with the sweet name of Racine was said to be having a relationship with the actor, whilst he is with the ex-star of Tomb Raider. She did not hesitate to give details about their sexual activities in a private jet. A bit too exaggerated to be credible… and Angelina was quick to dismiss it as a pile of lies…

But this time, the case is much worse! And Angelina has understood: Kathryn Morris, who plays Lilly Rush in the Cold Case series, made the movie Moneyball with her man Brad this summer. And, apparently, their scenes are explosive!

Brad takes on the role of Billy Beane, a baseball coach, and Kathryn that of his sexy as hell second wife. The pair had to shoot some steamy scenes, as Brad and Angelina did in Mr. & Mrs. Smith. And as proof that history repeats itself, Star reports that both actors grew more than close over the weeks. “Brad really wants Kathryn”, said the magazine without hesitation, accustomed as it is to spectacular scoops. According to the weekly, the two actors “flirt so much that production crew are beginning to be uncomfortable.” And to further fuel the rumours, the two actors were spending even more time together between filming scenes.

But that’s not all. According to Star, their story had started even before the shooting, specifically during the rehearsals: “Brad was very nervous when he found himself in the presence of the actress,” said one technician. At the time, Kathryn Morris was in a relationship with David Barrett, a producer, whom she was separated shortly thereafter. Coincidence! At this time Angelina has started to really sense the impending danger.

But the case took a more serious turn a few weeks ago. As the temperatures became unbearable on the set Brad Pitt decided to remove his T-shirt. The actress sighed and pretended to faint. When she realised that others had heard, she defended herself, arguing that it was a “harmless joke”. But all actors and technicians are now convinced that Brad and Kathryn have a relationship. “They themselves have looked very embarrassed when someone dares to make a joke about the subject,” says Star.

And as if that were not enough, The National Enquirer reports and drives home the point that, alerted by whispers in the hallways that are becoming increasingly insistent, Angelina made numerous trips back on set to keep an eye on Brad while ordering him to “stay far from that girl.” Now in Hungary for the purpose of making her new movie, it is more difficult for her to watch her husband and has had a string of panic attacks. Less sexy than Lara Croft, Kathryn nonetheless is an independent woman, with strong character not unlike Jennifer Aniston. Exactly the type Brad is fond of…

Marine Poyer

Victim of his success, Brad spends his time with women who cross his path succumbing to him. Unbeknownst to his own free will? Story of eighteen months.March 2009

Angelina surprises Brad, sitting alongside the nurse twins, rubbing his back to comfort her. Result, it is returned on the spot and Angelina Jolie flanks the beating of his life to her boyfriend.

May 2009
A young French woman, a model, Brad accuses of having made her pregnant. The rumour was quashed a few weeks later but it will still hurt the sex symbol.

January 2010
Brad and Jennifer Aniston met again for the first time since their divorce in four secret meetings revealed by the former bodyguard of his.

June 2010
And Brad is back with Aniston? The rumour surfaced again.

September 2010
Brad is accused of having cheated on Angelina by having a good time with a 22 year old French stewardess years old during a plane trip.

Inset:
On the set of Moneybail, the greatest sex symbol of all time has crossed paths with Kathryn Morris, who plays Lilly Rush in Cold Case for the last seven years. Bingo! Since the end of summer, they have been inseparable! Both on and off the set! Aware of the danger, Angelina, who is working in Hungary, spends her time making roundtrips to better keep and eye on her man… The crew is said to be very uncomfortable. I smell a rat?

KATHRYN MORRIS

“L’ARRÊT DE COLD CASE ME REND TRISTE…”

Exclusive Cold Case

On set at the last shoot

I find myself at 10.00 am, for the fourth consecutive year on the Warner Bros. 22 lot where the filming of “Cold Case” happens. For the last time too, as the team puts in the can one of the last episodes. Already last year, one series had to be cancelled and it was “Without a Trace” that was chosen to be sacrificed. The reprieve was short-lived.

Kathryn Morris welcomes me a few minutes after my arrival. Filming began very early, around 7.30am. Alex Zakrzewski, a Polish director, is in charge of this episode titled “Almost Paradise”. “With Alex, everything goes very quickly, he has already directed several episodes and knows the subject matter,” says Adam Glass, one of the producers. Before resuming her scene, Kathryn wonders about the audience figures of “Cold Case” in France. She is a little surprised when I told her that they are excellent: “I was in Montreal some time ago, and as it was -10ºC, I wore a balaclava. Despite this, French tourists managed to recognise me. I could not believe it!”

She quickly rejoined the team of investigators assembled on the set of the squad room. So, between rehearsals and close-ups of each actor, the scene takes two hours. In purple shirt and tie, Danny Pino beckons me to follow him in to his dressing room for an interview. Always available and friendly, he confesses to be delighted to have written the script for an episode of the new season which takes place in a circus in the mid 70s. “I ended the day and at night, I went into the offices of the production with Adam Glass to write this episode, which is accompanied by only the songs of the Doors!” After thirty-minute interview, he meets Kathryn Morris on the set. She sports a ponytail and an elegant blouse. They do a scene alone together. In thirty minutes she is done. It’s lunch break. Kathryn dons an anorak as the air conditioning is running at full blast! The actress gives me her impressions on these new episodes and tells me that she hoped the series would continue for some time …

In the afternoon, between scenes, I find her trying to send text messages like a teenager. I find myself in the room where the producer and director are viewing the footage. Nearby, Danny graciously lends himself to measurements of a technician, meter in hand, who measures the distance from his face to the camera. Late afternoon, I leave the set. It is with a twinge in my heart that I realized that I had the privilege of attending a recent filming of “Cold Case.” I was used to rendezvous with Lilly Rush …

KATHRYN MORRIS

“COLD CASE ENDING MAKES ME SAD…”

Our reporter met with Kathryn Morris who delivered her first impressions of the announcement of series coming to an end. Exclusive.

“Cold Case” has ended. How did you take the new?

Kathryn Morris: We still had so many stories to still to tell and episodes to make. Especially since during this past season, the writers and producers had made a lot of changes, particularly in the last ten episodes, to inject even more energy, while preserving the characteristics of the series.

Regrets, then?

It is very rare to see a series that lasts seven years. There was something magical about “Cold Case”: the concept, distribution, how to work with any team. There was always a lot of discipline and at the same time, a lot of passion. I’m a little sad.

What episode did you find most moving of the 156 you made?

The last two episodes of Season 6. First, because I play a flashback scene in which you see me get into the police and also because I’m in the same episode, ended an investigation when I am between life and death. My car starts flowing and try to get out… We even see Lilly Rush, my character, as a child. That’s the daughter of my partner, David, who played the character. I must say that his performance is great.

And love during these seven years?

Love is not really the drive of Lilly! She is married to her job instead. She’s a very lonely woman, a bit of a lone wolf.

But she did have some relationships…

This year she has the opportunity to join the FBI as an agent, with Johnny Messner starring as Ryan Cavanaugh, leaves an impression. And then, Bobby Cannavale, who plays the role of Eddie Saccardo, returns this time for three episodes …

Can give us some scoop on the latest episodes?

Lilly will have to make a lot of personal choices. She survived so many injuries in recent times: she was shot, she nearly drowned… There comes a point where she wondered what she would like to do with her life. The series will conclude the theme of forgiveness to her family, to a man. And for all this, it does not necessarily follow the law.

The series stops but how would you imagine Lilly in fifteen years?

There is a new person, a female who becomes very close to Lilly, and that could be like her in fifteen years. Susanna Thompson is the actress who plays Diane Yates, for three episodes. She just solve cases. She has no man in her life, she is alone, rather surly, exactly what Lilly might be in fifteen years if she does not question. And in recent episodes, we see her family returning. Especially her sister, Christina, who has disappointed many. But Lilly will be compassionate.

Now that you no longer have the pressure of filming, do you think of marriage, since you live many years with director David Barrett?

Many Americans grow up with the dream of living a fairy tale, with beautiful wedding dress, Prince Charming … Me, my life already looks like a fairy tale so I experienced extraordinary things. Wedding or not, I’m with David for eight years and that is rare. Especially in Hollywood!

Kathryn Morris

Kathryn Morris

Has she cracked Brad Pitt?

Playing a couple in a movie, the two actors, according to the Amercian papers, fell in love with each other. And mad with rage, Angelina Jolie was already calling for explanations from her husband!

By Hervé Tropéa, our correspondent in Hollywood

It’s a rumour that would have been shortlived… if it had not concerned two Hollywood stars. In July, when they were filming Moneyball together, rumours circulated on the movie set: Brad Pitt had succumb to the charms of his co-star, Kathryn Morris, a.k.a. the beautiful blonde detective Lilly Rush in Cold Case. In the movie business, we prefer to laugh, even if this supposed romance has the air of a romantic comedy remake: by looking just a few years earlier to the making of the movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith when Angelina Jolie and our beautiful blond (Brad Pitt) fell in love, Brad later divorcing the actress Jennifer Aniston. We’re not at that point. Still, the rumour persists and grows during the summer on a wind blowing madness over of the City of Angels.

September 27, Kathryn and Brad appeared very close between scenes, and everyone is getting carried away. The entourage stopped laughing and begin to seriously wonder: those two, would they be falling in love? Is the rumour that has rocked the country ultimately well-founded? If the agents of the two stars refuse to comment now, people will start to whisper it. Slowly but surely. “Brad Pitt and Kathryn Morris are so close that all technicians are extremely uncomfortable around them every day on the set of the film,” writes journalist Tim Plant in the U.S. weekly Star. “Not only as they act on set, but they do not mind spending more time together even when they have finished filming a scene.”

According to a source close to the actor, Brad clearly finds in the heroine of Cold Case the right balance between Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie. “Kathryn is uncomplicated and has both feet on firmly on the ground, like Jennifer”, says that friend to the National Enquirer. “But she is also very independent and has a strong personality, like Angelina.”

Another clue: whereas once she did not hesitate to appear regularly with her boyfriend, producer and director David Barrett, Kathryn Morris has decided to leave him … In the hope of conquering the whole heart of the beautiful Brad?

“One Monday morning he was so hot on the set that Brad top his top off,” says U.S. journalist Heidi Parker of American Media press group. Kathryn gasped and said she was going to faint. When she realized that people had heard, she quickly said that it was only a joke.”

THE AMERICAN PRESS LET LOOSE ON THIS MATTER

In recent days, the U.S. media printed all the rumours around this possible love story. “Brad and costar Kathryn in lust!” dared claim the Star magazine. “Angelina rages at Brad stay away from co-star!”, wrote the National Enquirer. And on the television front, they are enjoying it greatly. Many hosts are already wondering if the heroine of Cold Case will move in with the seductive actor. It must be said that Brad and Angelina’s relationship has faltered for a moment…

Add to that the scenes of the film are not exactly made to help the situation. Moneyball is based on the true story of a successful coach who creates the Oakland Athletics baseball team with a very limited budget by recruiting players chosen via sophisticated computer analysis. While Brad plays coach Billy Beane, Kathryn is Tara Beane, his very sexy second wife. According to revelations from the script about the story, some scenes between Kathryn and Brad are quite provocative.

The two stars will appear together in a torrid scene …

“I want you and I want you right now”, while Pitt has to say that Morris is half naked in lingerie. The two stars are even to be seen together a steamy scene in which Brad is to say: “I want to make love on a beach!”

Now one understands better why Angelina immediately demanded that Brad came back to Hungary, where she directed her first feature film, with their six children. “You better walk away from this girl, would have screamed, hysterically, the beautiful Angelina to her husband. This story will end badly.” Given the prevailing chemistry between Brad Pitt and Kathryn Morris, many are now struggling to contradict it.

Lilly Rush in the footsteps of its past

Case closed soon for Cold Case? Too bad, because this penultimate season, that France 2 is showing, is by far the best!
By Gwénola Trouillard

Last season, the series had escaped a last minute cancellation. But last May, CBS decided not to renew for an eighth season in the United States, where fans follow the latest Cold Case investigations. In France, the 6th season premiere, reveals the past of Lilly Rush (the fantastic Kathryn Morris).

We will discover who her father is: we remember that he had abandoned her when her mother fell into alcoholism. The young woman is going to trace him in Philadeiphia and try to rebuild a relationship with him. The father is the theme of this season, as each episode reveals a key moment in the infancy of Lilly Rush. We also see she take interest in life, through her romance with Eddie Saccardo, the Narcotics cop.

Later investigations, subject to episodes this season strong emotionally, plunging the viewer into the Mississippi where there is the racist Ku Klux Klan, trace the odyssey of the first steps on the Moon through the eyes of a little boy, draw us into the backstage the TV of the 70s… Note the return in a recurring role of Jonathan LaPaglia, the younger brother of Anthony, the hero of Without a Trace, the series that had been eliminated in favor of Cold Case. The production team who cast him don’t lack in humor!

ALL FOR THE MUSIC!

Each episode of Cold Case costs approximately $1.2million. The high budget is explained in the time periods explored and a soundtrack composed of songs released in the year where the plot unfolds. Nothing but he best of renowned artists: Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan… The exorbitant fees prevent the release of the series on DVD.

Entente cordiale!

It’s the turn of TV Grande Chaines, another French TV magazine, to have a brief interview with Kathryn about the return of Cold Case to the small screens of France. This one has the anecdote about the woman and her dead dog.

A scan from the magazine can now be found in the Gallery and a transcript and rough translation can be found below. The included photos are ones we’ve seen before.

Thanks again to Rusher for her great help with this.

Kathryn Morris

Kathryn Morris

“At school they used to call me the blonde avenger!”

The detective Cold Case returns with new surveys. I met her at the Golden Globes ceremony.

Your character, Lilly Rush, always solves forgotten old cases. But the real clear up rate of these cases in the United States is only 35%…

I think that viewers would not really stay if the heroine had not been ultra efficient! You will find however, that before filing a case, Lilly goes through difficult stages. She’s even often doubted. From a screenwriting point of view, we try to get as close as possible to the methods of police investigation. To play my character better, I also met a lot of detectives.

Do you have points in common with her?

Yes. The thirst for knowledge and the fact of never giving up! Like her, I love helping people, I make myself available to support them in life. Furthermore, I can not stand injustice and I invest myself fully to restore truth. Even at school, in the playground I was going in when they were attacking the younger ones. They called me “the blonde avenger!”

Are you aware of being one of the sexiest police officers on TV?

It is the show that should be in the spotlight. Not me. I am there to serve the story. I’m just a device. When I see my head on the cover of a magazine, I do not understand why I deserve this. I am born in Cincinnati, Ohio. Over there, we are down to earth!

How do you explain your success in France?

If you look closely at Lilly Rush, we see that behind her apparent coldness, she’s very human. And that is the perception I have of you, the French. At first, you’re not open to others, you tend to keep a certain distance. But once you trust someone, your friendship is unwavering. I love getting mail from the French public! These letters are always adorable. And there are often beautiful stamps on envelopes. It is a way for me to travel to your beautiful regions.

Your fans, they sometimes confuse you with Lilly Rush?

Yes, I’m afraid so! One evening, a lady asked me to investigate the suspicious death of her chihuahua twenty years earlier in exchange for a reward. I advised her to go to her local animal protection league or veterinarian. That infuriated her. On leaving, she barked: “If you are so talented, you would go into my garden, and dig up the remains of my dog, and you’d find the cause of death by analyzing his DNA!”

Télé Star magazine steps up with a short interview with Kathryn to help promote the launching of Cold Case season 7 on the channel France 2.

A scan of the page can be found in the Gallery. Sadly it does not include any new photos. After the jump you can find a transcript of the French text and another of my Google-assisted attempts at an English translation.

Kathryn Morris

Kathryn Morris

“The end of Cold Case makes me sad”

At age 41, Kathryn Morris says farewell Lilly Rush, her popular character. Cold Case has just ended in the US. The actress says she is saddened, but she was already thinking about the future

TÉLÉ STAR: At the end of Season 7, Cold Case stops permanently. How do you cope with this decision?

KATHRYN MORRIS: We still had so many stories to tell, so many episodes to make. Especially since in this last season the writers and producers had changed a lot things, especially in the last ten episodes to inject even more energy investigations. This gave a facelift to the series.

This means that you have regrets?

KM: It’s very rare to have a series that lasts seven years. I always said that there was something magical about Cold Case: the concept, distribution, how to work with any team. I’m a little sad, it’s normal! But I am a great optimist and I’m already thinking about the future.

What do you consider the most moving episode of the more than 150 that you shot?

KM: The 2 part finale of season 6 was certainly the most exciting to play. First, because a flashback happens when I go into the police. And also because Lilly, my character, is between life and death. But I shall say no more, if you have not seen… It was funny to see the daughter of my friend, David (she lives with director David Barrett, ed), take my role as a child. (She smiles.)

Can you give us more information on the latest episodes?

KM: This year, Lilly will have to make personal choices. She will ask what they want to do long term. This may be an opportunity for her to leave the path she had marked out for years.

Now that you no longer have the pressure of filming, do you think of marriage?

KM: I’m a modern woman and at the same time very traditional, rather romantic. Many Americans grow up dreaming of a wedding like Cinderella. For me, my life already looks like a fairy tale. Wedding or not, I’ve been with David for eight years and that is rare, especially in Hollywood!

Interview by Franck Ragaine

Inset:

Soon to in a couple with Brad Pitt

Kathryn Morris did not wait long to find roles. She will play the wife of Brad Pitt in Moneyball (released in 2011). Meanwhile, Americans will see her in Mother’s Little Helpers, a comedy with Jim Belushi and Denise Richards.
