It’s an item from a recent edition of Star magazine in the USA.  I don’t know but I’m guessing Star is a tabloid-style gossip rag, so hardly the most reliable of sources.  The “story” was posted as a small insert alongside a larger piece about Brad’s missus, Angelina Jolie, spending time with a mysterious female.  It is a lot of unsubtle nudge-nudge wink-wink stuff.  I’m not putting a huge amount of faith in the content but you never know.  It is what it is.  Read the text from the piece is after the jump.

Too Close For Comfort?

Angelina recently shot a racy nude shower scene with Johnny Depp in The Tourist, but now it’s Brad’s turn!  The actor, currently filming Moneyball in L.A., has a steamy sex scene with his attractive costar Kathryn Morris, 41.  Kathryn’s character Tara, the second wife of Brad’s character, Billy, provocatively poses for him, dishes a source who has read the script.  “Brad starts touching her all over her body and tells her, ‘I want to have sex, I want to have sex right now,’” says the source, noting, “It’s really raunchy!”  And the chemistry between the two is undeniable.  During a test shoot, “Brad was stuttering and blushing when he was around Kathryn,” reveals the source.  “He was clearly nervous.”  Looks like Angelina’s not the only one with a new crush!

Interesting… 

The film’s script has a complex history that makes it difficult to know how true this might be.  An early draft apparently included a scene involving Billy and a waitress, but that one was rejected as too far from reality.  A later version is said to have been a more documentary-style film.  Prior to the filming beginning the original screenwriter returned.

I can see that starring in a Brad Pitt movie, especially as she is playing his character’s wife, is going to put the spotlight on Kathryn in the coming months.

For years, Kathryn Morris has gotten down and dirty playing Detective Lilly Rush on Cold Case. During that time, she’s also managed to solve the mystery of how to look (and feel) her best by adopting a healthy attitude about diet and exercise. Below are a few of her can’t miss tips.

Keep It Fun:

“I work out two to three days a week. I try to run around the hills in my neighborhood. I mix that up with some yoga and Pilates, and I also try to do something totally different or fun—like I just started playing tennis because I had never tried that before and it’s a great way to take your concentration to another level.”

Feed Your Cravings:

“I trust my body. If I wake up and think I’m supposed to have some pomegranate juice, scrambled eggs and one piece of bacon, I’ll eat it because it’s what my body’s asking me for. I don’t overly obsess about things. If I want a cookie, I’ll eat it; I just won’t eat a bunch of them.”

Take Your Vitamins:

“I take multis, and a lot of antioxidants. Fish oils and omega-3s are great for body function, skin, hair and concentration. I eat foods with those nutrients as well.”

Find a Fitness Role Model:

“I got to meet Martina Navratilova, the tennis legend, recently. She gave me her book, Shape Your Self: My 6-Step Diet and Fitness Plan to Achieve the Best Shape of Your Life ($18.45; amazon.com). The December 2009 edition of First For Women magazine saw the appearance of an interview with Kathryn.  Amy Spencer’s article is full of fun little anecdotes, told by Kathryn, about incidents that have changed her way of looking at things  Kathryn clearly enjoys exploring many aspects of life, her acting career must give her a way of exploring some of those via different characters.

The text is peppered with “happiness perk” insights by Dr Todd Kashdan, a Professor of Psychology.  For the sake of brevity, and to concentrate on Kathryn’s bits, I’ve removed them from the transcript below (after the jump).  You can still read them in the images.

I must admit to being in two minds about the photo of Kathryn.  On the one hand the dress is nice and she does looks good in it.  But there is something about the smile that doesn’t look right.  I’m not sure if it is just an unfortunate angle, the make-up, the quality of the scan, or some Photoshopping bu it just doesn’t look quite natural, and Kathryn looks at her most beautiful au naturel.

Amy’s blog post says that this interview was a cover piece.  I have not found any scans of the cover or any other sections that might include additional photos of Kathryn.  Do you have the magazine?  Could you help out?

Actress Kathryn Morris, 40, shares how embracing her inquisitive nature has enriched her life

Back in the second grade, Kathryn Morris was one of those kids who had teachers pulling out their hair. “I was so curious,” she recalls. “It was really all about the details. Like when we were learning about food groups dairy, neat — and I was asking, ‘How can eggs be in the dairydepartment when eventually that egg would be a chicken?’” Even today, Kathryn, who plays detective Lilly Rush on the CBS hit Cold Case, is always pondering what she can learn and how she can grow, and she’s never one to go the safe route or shy away from failure. It’s an approach to life that’s led to great success, including starting a television production company at Warner Bros.

Indeed, an inquisitive nature is the key to lasting happiness, notes Todd Kashdan, Ph.D., author of Curious? Discover the Missing Ingredient to a Fulfilling Life (William Morrow, 2009). “Creating a fulfilling life is about discovering your passions and strengths so you feel more energized, motivated and authentic,” he explains. “But to get there, you have to experiment, and curiosity plays a bigger role than anything.” Here, how Kathryn relies on that playful quality — and how you can find your own path to happiness by allowing your inquisitive side to lead the way.

1 Make room for chance encounters

“I used to live in terror of the unknown, but I’ve realized that you can’t control things,” says Kathryn, who sang in her family’s gospel music group, Morris Code, as a child. “You have to surrender and believe that things will be taken care of by God or the universe. If you put yourself out there and you’re doing something active to break patterns, you will get something that you wouldn’t have gotten if you didn’t step outside the box. For example, I’ve always wanted to do a whole March of the Penguins experience, but I don’t want the ‘I froze my nose off at Everest.’ Recently I presented an Emmy to two cinematographers who do reality shows in Alaska and Antarctica. After I gave the award, I said, ‘I’ve always wanted to go on one of those adventures with pros like you.’ And they said, ‘Well, you’re just going to have to then.’ Of all the people I could meet, I met them!”

2 When you think you can’t, try anyway

“The last few years, I’ve decided to try things I may be really bad at — and be okay with being bad at those things,” says Kathryn. “I took a jazz dance class to prepare for a movie, and when we were done, this 11-year-old girl whispered to me, ‘You might want to try Thursday night—it’s much easier.” She wasn’t being snotty. She was really trying to be sweet and help me out. Needless to say, I won’t be doing Dancing With the Stars!”

3 Be interested, not interesting

“The best advice I ever got was, ‘Be interested instead of being interesting:” says Kathryn, who realized the power of that approach after striking up a conversation with a local tailor. “He had a limp and didn’t speak a lot of English. But we got to talking and he said, ‘You know, life is short. When I was young in Mexico, I was in a plane crash. Everyone thought I would’ve died instantly. I lost my leg, but I was alive: Those are the people you learn a lesson from.”

4 When a theme repeats, explore it

“I try to pay attention to the little things that pique my interest,” says Kathryn. “I see those as a kind of signal that’s being sent my way. I try to make myself aware, like, Wow this thing keeps coming up. Maybe I should flow with that.”

5 Investigate life’s little mysteries

“If you think you have somebody’s number, you make assumptions,” says Kathryn of how she’s learned not to take anything for granted. “It’s impossible to know everything about your partner or your sibling or your friends. So if I notice there is something mysterious about a person, I’m interested in figuring it out. Like, I know a man who mumbles. Everyone else understands him because they’ve known him his whole life. But I don’t understand a word he says. Then I saw him smile really big one time, and I realized it’s because he’s so ashamed of his teeth, he’s spent his life trying to cover them.”

The Interrogation Of Kathryn Morris

She Solves crimes on Cold Case, is an amateur cheerleader and, if there’s time, rides go karts.

Kathryn Morris had a long climb to Hollywood success, but once she got there, she stayed.

Talking to Morris as the seventh season of Cold Case has been picked up, she’s excited to resume the role of Lilly Rush, a no-nonsense detective who can fool criminals with the best of them, all while fooling herself into thinking she can go through life alone. If there are only bits of back story and off-duty moments woven into Cold Case, it’s because many detectives Morris has met are married to their work, and do, in fact, destroy their personal lives with murders that haunt them, even after they’re solved. “My character is incredibly successful at dealing with strangers, yet she’s so vulnerable with people in her life,” Morris assesses. “Whether it’s dealing with her estranged sister or a strained relationship with a father she barely knew, you know she wants to try and resolve things—but she sometimes just pushes them away with the pain she feels.”

Dealing with such serious subject matter forces  Morris to leave town once in a while or at least  distract herself from work when she’s home. “I love to travel,” she shares. “I know someone who has a farm in Utah. A two-week stopover there shows you that there’s a world outside of Hollywood … When I’m home I don’t watch many dramas because I’m literally surrounded by murder all day. I need to smile.”

Morris gave everyone a smile one day on the set of Ellen, letting fans see a side of her which Lilly Rush wouldn’t so easily display. Ellen DeGeneres casually mentioned catching wind of Morris’ yearning to become a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. Suddenly, out came the outfit and an urging to live out her dream. The scene, which you can catch on YouTube (search: Kathryn Morris cheerleader), reveals the briefest moment of hesitation from Morris. This could be great, this could be a disaster. Morris chose the first thought and came out after the break looking like someone who could absolutely fi ll the role—and the short shorts! Her pom-poms afl utterin’, she began to do a cheer then laughed her head off when she used a Dallas Cowboys player’s name who had long since retired. It was as if she was a little girl again and in the moment. “Someone working on the show was part of a photo shoot with me weeks before,” Morris recalls. “That’s the only way they could have gotten my size right. I got into that outfit, shook my head and said, ‘Hey, you only live once.’”

And that same attitude has her taking up motocross and even being a partner in Pole Position Raceway, a go kart center with locations in Oklahoma, Nevada and California. “They’re really doing well and it just lets me be a part of something that’s a lot of fun,” she says. Morris even has a motocross bike, yet admits she can’t ride it as long as she’s on the show because of the risk of injury. “One day I’m going to do some crazy moves on that thing!” she clucks.

Some of that devil-may-care attitude, she says, comes from those same detectives she’s met. “Because the show has gone on for years we’ve really developed strong relationships with detectives,” Morris offers. “My character is based on Tim Bass in Philadelphia—when I hear him talk about a case you see the devotion and fire in his eyes to solve it. They take some real chances in their profession and you can tell it’s worth it to them.”

Of course, she admits there’s a down side to her friendships with detectives as well. “The teasing they give me,” she laughs. “That’s the worst! A detective will say, ‘You looked too hot in that scene—my suspects would have given you more crap.’”

Never Cold

Morris sees a bright future for the show and for herself. In a long-term relationship with boyfriend David Barrett, a multi-talent who once produced Cold Case and was a pro motocross racer, they’ve decided to go to the next level. No, not marriage, but opening up a production company together.

Recently commissioned to shoot a pilot for a show she’s producing, Morris says it was one of the most exciting days of her career. “I enjoy being in front of the camera but I wanted to be even more invested,” she says. One thing she’s still invested in is her fans, reminding herself to leave them with a positive experience whenever they have the courage to say hello. “I was always taught by my family to try and be kind and respectful,” she says. “I believe it helped my career and makes life a little easier.”

We are yet again indebted to zoé for her efforts on our behalf.  This time she has taken pity on us, the great uneducated masses, and translated Kathryn’s recent FHM interview into English.

Madame Cold

At 40, the heroine of Cold Case has decided to re-open the case “sexy blonde”…

Blonde, cold and sad… in Cold Case, detective Lilly Rush re-opens files of unsolved murders which often contain a fair amount of melancholy.  Blonde, fresh and sparkling… in real life Kathryn Morris is much less icy than the atmosphere in the archives of the Philadelphia Police Department.  And she proves it by accepting, at just 40, to pose undressed for FHM.  Pictures that will quickly join our office files of “hot cases”.

So how was the photoshoot for FHM?

It was really fun!  I felt sufficiently confident to play the seduction card, in a way I think sexy!

And when do you feel really sexy?

Since I have confidence in myself and I don’t try anymore to prove anything. I am as I am.  It’s the fact of feeling good about oneself and well adjusted which makes one feel sexy.  Since I turned 40, I have felt better, stronger. With the experience, but also success, I learned to let loose and not to worry about small things. But it took time.  Younger, I was not very feminine. I was shy and a little clumsy!

How did you land the role of Lilly Rush?

At first, I came to Hollywood to make movies (she played the ex-wife of Tom Cruise in Minority Report and we saw her in AI, 2 movies by Spielberg) and I wasn’t thinking of TV.  But the producers were sure that I was the ideal actress to portray Lilly Rush and they insisted.  I finally agreed to meet Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer of the show.  A few days later, I was on the set.

It has been going for seven years  now?

Yes. And after all these years in the skin of Lilly, I learned to love her. I even started to see her as a human being whose evolution I follow as a privileged witness.  A TV show, it’s an incredible experiment.  It’s difficult, but it’s worth it.

What does it feel to be now classified as a “Hollywood Blonde”?

It is an old stereotype, but I can live with it.  And the bleached blonde is so beautiful in black and white movies.  But I’m fine with being “classified” like you said next to Marylin Monroe, Farah Fawcett or even Barbie!

You are, however, not really a Barbie?

It’s true that because of Barbie’s measurements, it is said that all the little girls want to have a thin body! America is obsessed by weight. In Europe, you prefer women who have curves.

Speaking of Europe, what do you think of the French?

What matters for a man in the US are work and money.  I visited Paris several times and I am under the impression that the French appreciate more beauty, poetry and the good things in life.  Especially, they pay more attention to women and are able to understand them, deep down.

We believe that you are currently single?

I had been with somebody for 9 years, which is kind of a record in Hollywood. But our paths took too different directions.  We left each other on the air of “I love you enough to let you go.”  I always wanted to be an actress.  It was, and remains, my priority before romance or marriage.  Besides, I don’t feel the need to submit paperwork in a town hall to prove my love or my attachment to someone.

So, what does it take to seduce you?

The way to my heart first of all is by kindness.  Be nice.  One needs also passion.  Finally chemistry is important! But that, we know it from the first kiss!  When I fall in love, it is often by noticing little defects of a man, his imperfections, like a scar or a crooked tooth!  Ah, lastly, you should also ask yourself whether you have enough self confidence to be with somebody who has success and can earn more money than you.  I know it sounds trivial, but if we don’t raise these issues, it cannot work.

Have you ever Googled your name?

Frankly, typing “Kathryn Morris” and searching for information on me would be the best way to become nuts!  I am not really a fan of Internet.  For example, I don’t like to buy things online, I prefer to go to the store.  I own a blackberry and an iPhone, I used them to check my emails, and that’s it.  I’m not really an expert in technology.

What are you currently listening to in your iPod?

I adore U2, it’s really the group of my generation. I also like Coldplay.  In fact, I especially listen to rock, like Led Zeppelin, AC/DC or Blondie.
