Next January, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will bring Moneyball to Blu-ray. Directed by Bennett Miller (Capote) and adapted from Michael Lewis' nonfiction bestseller by Academy Award-winner Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network), this critically acclaimed drama stars Brad Pitt (Inglourious Basterds) as the Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane, who uses Bill James' revolutionary sabermetric analysis to help shape the team's draft decisions. With the help of his assistant GM Peter Brand (Jonah Hill, Superbad), Beane slowly improves the A's overall statistical record; his successful implementation of James' theories also has a powerful impact on all of Major League Baseball.
In addition to Pitt and Hill, Moneyball has an impressive supporting cast that includes Robin Wright (Forrest Gump), Arliss Howard (The Lost World), Reed Diamond (Dollhouse), Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation), and Philip Seymour Hoffman (Synecdoche, New York).
Sony presents Moneyball in its original aspect ratio of 1.85:1 with 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio sound. The film will come in two Blu-ray options - a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and a single-disc Blu-ray edition. Both editions feature a number of supplementary materials, such as:
Four behind-the-scenes featurettes:
- Billy Beane: Re-Inventing the Game
- Drafting The Team
- Moneyball: Playing The Game
- Adapting Moneyball
Maybe it's because I had low expectations, because I'm not really a fan of baseball--especially the business/numbers/strategy side of it--but I really, really liked this movie.
Being a baseball fan of a small market (Indians) and a baseball fan in general i loved this film. Day one. Really enjoyed Pitt and Hill's performances in this.
